奇妙的維修經驗 / A Strange Repair Experience

前段時間，我有看到 @lovequeen 到皇家俱樂部維修手機的經驗，所以當我的華碩手機壞掉時，我立刻就想到皇家俱樂部維修，我手機的問題是手機按鈕壞掉，按下去無作用，不過，手機功能正常，就是使用上不太方便，但是可以勉強使用，所以，我拖了一段時間後，還是決定去修理。

皇家俱樂部的光華館，是離我最近的地方，本來想要網路上預約，但是我的手機已經過保固了，只能現場排隊，我看網路上說，皇家俱樂部生意超好，我很怕要排隊排很久，只好，特地請假，來避開人潮，加快維修速度，我聰明吧，到達現場後，發現光華館藏身在一棟老舊公寓大樓中，進駐公寓的都是一些奇怪的公司或協會，光華館只有佔一層樓，有點出乎我意料之外，居然沒有大公司該有的派頭，看來公司應該沒有想像中賺錢，已經不想維護企業形象了。

光華館的那層樓倒是打點得還可以，首先是科技公司必備的白色簡約風，寬廣明亮的展示間，用於展示華碩的各式新品，如AI筆電、電競電腦及手機等，展示間有少數服務人員，不主動接近顧客，只有當顧客主動詢問時，才會提供幫助，還有一區座位區，方便顧客等待，果然如我所料的，不需要排隊，但是當服務人員跟後台確認我手機的狀況後，遺憾地跟我說，它們沒有備料，無法維修，哇！真是晴天霹靂啊，枉費我特地請假來避開人潮，但是，服務人員建議我去坊間維修店問問看，或許它們有備料可以修。

既然都已經請假了，只好去附近的光華數位新天地碰碰運氣了，幾年前，我常來這個區域，但是我有很長一段時間，沒到光華數位新天地了，這裡是知名的電子商場，我認為現在也是，它匯集各式書籍影音相關產品、3C商品及視聽器材等，但是，我聽說現在很多年輕人，會聚集到這個區域，參與獨特的二次元活動，不過，當我進入商場後，發現這裡真的是沒落了，不確定是否我來的時間點不對，或是其它原因，這裡瀰漫著老人味，店家賣著混亂無章的各式電子商品，店員幾乎都是有點年紀的中年人，不過，我卻在這裡找到某家塊修店，可以幫我把手機按鈕修好，兩個小時之後，我就帶著我的手機，離開這個充滿回憶的地方。

Some time ago, I saw @lovequeen share her experience getting her phone repaired at the ASUS Royal Club. So when my ASUS phone broke, that was the first place that came to mind. The problem with my phone was that the physical button stopped working. Pressing it didn’t do anything. The rest of the phone worked fine, but it was a bit inconvenient to use. I put off fixing it for a while, but eventually decided to go.

The Guanghua branch of the Royal Club was the closest one to me. I originally wanted to book an appointment online, but since my phone was already out of warranty, I had to go in person. I read online that the Royal Club is usually super busy, and I was worried about having to wait in line forever, so I decided to take a day off from work to avoid the crowds and speed things up; is it smart move, right? When I arrived, I found the Guanghua branch tucked away inside an old apartment building. Most of the floors were occupied by random small companies or associations. The Royal Club only took up one floor, which honestly surprised me — it didn’t have the look or feel of a big, successful company. I started thinking maybe ASUS wasn’t doing as well as I imagined and had stopped caring about its brand image.

That floor, though, was nicely maintained — clean and bright, with the usual minimalist white tech-company style. There was a spacious showroom displaying ASUS’s latest products, like AI laptops, gaming PCs, and smartphones. A few staff members were around, but they didn’t approach customers unless asked. There was also a small seating area for people waiting. As I had hoped, there was no line. But after checking with the service center in the back, the staff told me regretfully that they didn’t have the parts to fix my phone. What a shock! I had taken time off for this, only to be told they couldn’t repair it. The staff kindly suggested I try one of the nearby independent repair shops instead; maybe they’d have the parts.

Since I’d already taken the day off, I decided to head over to Guanghua Digital Plaza to try my luck. I used to go there quite often a few years ago, but it had been a long time since my last visit. It’s a famous electronics mall filled with all kinds of gadgets, AV equipment, and 3C products. I’d heard that these days, many young people gather there for anime or “second-dimension” events, but when I walked in, the place felt… kind of run-down. Maybe it was just the time of day, but the whole mall had this “old man vibe.” The stores were cluttered with random electronics, and most of the clerks were middle-aged. Still, I eventually found a small repair shop that could fix my phone’s button. Two hours later, I walked out with my phone working again — and a wave of nostalgia for a place that once felt much livelier.
