陶瓷市集的邂逅 / A Chance Encounter at the Ceramics Market

某個週末的午後，我漫步在大巨蛋附近的廣場時，突然傳出一陣悠揚的音樂聲，我順著音樂聲找過去，發現了一個水池，池水平靜如鏡，水池中映照出附近知名的台北101大樓，難怪每年跨年時，總是有人來這裡看跨年煙火，透過翠湖的湖水倒映，讓煙火在綻放時看起來更加燦爛。

看來市集前方的音樂表演者，不但幫這個市集吸引了不少人前來，還讓整個氛圍變得更有層次。表演彷彿替這個市集注入了靈魂。若沒有這樣的表演，也許人們只是匆匆逛過攤位、買完東西便離開；而有了音樂，人們會選擇放慢腳步，甚至停下來聆聽。

當我步入陶瓷市集後，我才發現我進入了一個寶庫，有些攤位展示的是現代風格的陶器，不但線條簡約，還富有創意，做成各種形式的擴香瓶或裝飾物等，也有走傳統風格的作品，做成盤、杯或花瓶等，我常拿起作品，仔細把玩，於攤主交流一番創作理念，手作陶藝作品每件都是獨一無二的，無法複製，也無法預測，這就是陶藝的好玩之處。

大多數的攤主都是年輕人，他們都想把傳統的陶藝注入新生命，所以，都想盡辦法變成新花樣。最近剛好萬聖節即將到來，看到有些攤位特地製作出帶些幽默的作品，像這個鬼鬼小香爐，特別在西洋鬼魂外型的香爐，加上一頂小小的南瓜帽，看起來搞怪之餘，又帶點可愛。

每個市集都有些美食攤位，不過，這個市集的超好逛的，讓我忘了美食的誘惑，我只關注在那些匠人們的作品及他們的生活態度，他們傳達給我的是現代的陶器，早已不再只是餐桌上的器皿或花架上的裝飾，而成為一種融合生活美學與創意設計的藝術作品，一個杯子，可能外表粗糙，邊緣略微傾斜，但拿在手裡卻格外有溫度，作品像是擁有靈魂的物件。

One weekend afternoon, while I was strolling around the plaza near the Taipei Dome, I suddenly heard some soothing music. Following the sound, I found a small pool of water, calm like a mirror, reflecting the nearby Taipei 101 building. No wonder people love to gather here every New Year’s Eve to watch the fireworks. Through the reflection in the lake, the fireworks look even more dazzling when they light up the night sky.

It seemed that the street performer in front of the market wasn’t just drawing a crowd but also adding depth and charm to the whole atmosphere. The performance gave the market a kind of soul. Without the music, people might have just passed by quickly, bought something, and left. But with it, they slowed down, stopped, and listened.

As I walked into the ceramics market, I realized I had stepped into a treasure trove. Some stalls featured modern-style pottery — clean, minimal, and full of creativity — shaped into diffusers or decorative pieces. Others leaned toward traditional designs, offering plates, cups, and vases. I often picked up a piece, turned it in my hands, and chatted with the artist about their inspiration. Each handmade ceramic piece is unique — impossible to copy or predict — and that’s what makes pottery so fascinating.

Most of the stall owners were young artists trying to breathe new life into traditional ceramic art. They experimented with all kinds of fresh ideas. Since Halloween was just around the corner, some had even made humorous themed pieces. One that caught my eye was a little ghost-shaped incense burner wearing a tiny pumpkin hat — spooky yet adorably playful.

Of course, every market has food stalls, but this one was so captivating that I completely forgot about the food. I was too focused on the artisans and their creations. What they shared wasn’t just pottery. It was a lifestyle, a philosophy. Modern ceramics are no longer just tableware or decoration; they’ve become an art form that blends aesthetics and creativity. A cup might look rough or slightly uneven, but when you hold it, it feels warm — as if it has a soul of its own.
