This is the Plaza de Toros Maestranza César Girón
In the urbanization Calicanto in the city of Maracay, Venezuela, is one of the most iconic sites in the area, I am talking specifically about the Plaza de Toros Maestranza Cesar Giron, a historical monument of the nation that for better or for worse, I remember it always under constant repairs or remodeling in the infrastructure. I say this because every time I have intentions of going in to browse and to look around its interesting spaces, it is closed. It is quite common to see contractor's personnel making repairs that never seem to end.
But this post is not to make a criticism, it is to present through these photos the outside of this structure which I have only been able to enter a couple of times, but not for bullfighting events, but for rock concerts that have been organized there. Before I continue, I must say that I totally disagree with the activities or shows that involve animals and much less when they mistreat them, as happens in bullfights, but that's just one opinion.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, the Maestranza Cesar Giron, as it is popularly known, is a National Historical Monument, that was declared on April 15, 1994. It has capacity for 7000 people and was designed by architect Carlos Raul Villanueva, a local architect of renown in the city, in fact, there are streets named after him. Regarding the construction style, the information I obtained indicates that it is inspired by the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla, however, the design we see here is simpler and lighter.

To give you a more personal impression, although it is true that the inspiration is from a place in Europe, I feel that the different arches that characterize the structure have an Arabic style, perhaps this is due to the influence that had a certain time a Muslim kingdom in Spanish lands, but these are just my speculations. On the other hand, seeing this structure for so long and I mean since my childhood, has made me lose the visual impact it can cause in me, however, not for that reason I take away the importance of the historical significance that this place has for those who live in the city of Maracay.
As you have been able to see, in terms of painting and structurally it does not seem to be in bad shape, however, there are specific spaces that seem to be abandoned. It is currently under refurbishment and I suppose that sooner rather than later it will be fully operational and open to the public, this is an iconic place in the city and as such it should be in perfect condition.
To take these photos I walked from right to left through the entire structure, so as far as the external areas are concerned, you are seeing the whole place. On the other hand, I tried to take pictures of some internal areas, but I didn't have better access, so I owe them to you for now.
So, it was a pleasure to share with you another important place in my hometown, I would have liked to photograph the inside, but that will be another time. Soon I will be sharing with you other structures of interest, see you soon!
