Hello there amazing needleworkers! šŸ¤© Happy weekend šŸ¤—. Trust you've been having a great week?

Honestly, I still find it hard to believe that I'm actually making this post. I mean, who would've thought that I'd be taking on a second wip project barely 2 weeks after completing my last project? šŸ¤

I guess that's how much crocheting has gotten the best of me. Oh and about that project, I'm still overwhelmed with the compliments I got from friends and family who were wowed by my simple crochet tote bag, plus the comments I got from this community were super encouraging šŸ„ŗ.

Initially, I didn't plan on making this project a wip post but seeing as I still have a few weeks left before the challenge ends, why not give it a shot? šŸ˜ƒ

Anyway, let's quickly dive into the main theme for today's post; introducing my second wip project! Remember in my last wip post, I said I was looking forward to learning more? Well, I did and I still am. I looked into other kinds of stuff I could crochet as well as some advanced stitch patterns I could learn.

And last week, while surfing through some crochet tutorials on YouTube, I randomly stumbled on a video about how to make a simple crop top and it inspired me on this project. So, for my wip 2 project, I'll be crocheting a "ribbed crop top with plaited tie straps" for the handles šŸ¤©.

I drew an outline of how it's supposed to look but it'll prolly look better than this in real life šŸ˜….

You see, I've low-key had a liking for this piece of clothing but strangely, I've never had one in my closet and I guess that makes the whole thing more exciting šŸ’ƒ.

I already bought my yarns two days ago and I started the following day which was yesterday (so, my project is only a day old).

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the worsted weight yarn I wanted so I had to settle for the 40g yarns. I got only two because that was the last pair of purple coloured yarns in stock. Though, I'm not sure it'll be enough šŸ¤”, I'm guessing I'd eventually need more and I just hope that same color would be available when next I come for it.

THE PROCESS

Using a 5mm crochet hook and two joined yarns, I crocheted my foundation chains which were 47 in number. The chains were made to measure 10 inches lengthwise since it's a crop top.

Then, I proceeded to making my first stitch and the pattern in use is the half-double crochet. I chose this particular pattern because the stitch seemed tighter thereby preventing an "easy see through". Also, I just wanted to keep my stitch pattern advancement step by step. Learning they say, is a gradual process, so there's no need for rush.

However, I've been repeating this stitch process untill now and this is currently how it's going:

Though I haven't gone far, I hope to keep this up until I reach my desired size, then I'd sew it up and begin working on my handles.

The major step I plan on taking towards completing this project is consistency. I'll see to it that I at least do certain amounts of stitches everyday and I look forward to seeing how it turns out in the end.

Hopefully in my next post, I'll be back to dish you all with nice photos of me rocking my completed top, so stay tuned guys šŸ¤—.
