I Finished Crocheting My Crop top! π₯³ (Wip 2).
Hello Needleworkers! π€
I'm excited to announce the completion of my second work in progress project. π€©π
In my last post, I did an introduction to my wip 2 which I started last week Thursday. I mentioned that I was crocheting a ribbed crop top with plaited tie straps for the handles. And I hadn't gone much far then.
Well, here's an update on my project progress so far:
In continuation from where I stopped last week Friday, I continued making my half double crochet stitches with consistency. Even though other personal tasks got in the way, I tried to do a good number of stitches each day until this week Monday when my yarns exhausted after the 71st stitch.
The next day being Tuesday, I set out to go get extra yarns from the market store. Luckily, they stocked with more yarns of the same colour I was using and I was so relieved. Then, I purchased them, got home and continued crocheting that same day.
I was less busy plus there were only a few more stitches left, so I quickly finished up with the bodice and it totalled 81 stiches. Meanwhile, while adding the stiches, I kept checking on intervals to see if it could already go round my waist or if it had reached 25 inches wide (which is my waist measurement).
And after I had finished crocheting the bodice of my crop top, I proceeded to sewing the ends using a needle and a strand of yarn. Sewing it wasn't difficult at all, I just took my time because I had to sew it loop by loop to ensure a straight and neat work.
However, as I approached the buttom, I noticed one part of my work was shorter than the other. And though I tried to fix it, it left a little hitch. I mean, the patterns at that area became somewhat bent due to my mistake.
I was a bit disappointed I couldn't achieve a flawless sew but I learned my lesson and I'll try to be a lot more careful next time.
Moving on to Wednesday, I started making the strap handles.
First, I used clothes pegs as substitution for stitch markers to mark down where I wanted to fix my strap handles.
Next, I cut out 24 equal strands of yarn measuring 60 inches, took out 6 strands for each side of the bodice and used my crochet hook to slip them into the stitch hole of my crop top.
Now, they became 12 strands. Dividing them into 3 parts of 4 strands each, I started plaiting them to the length I wanted.
I repeated this process for the other sides of my crop top until I had 4 plaited strap handles. Then, I tied each front and back strands together into a bow and cut off the remaining excess strands. But I left small ruffles on the ends of each straps. Making the handles were the easiest part I'd say.
And this was the end result of my crop top that took 6 days and 2Β½ balls of yarns to crochet π.
Of course, trust my overexcited ass ππ€ͺβ¦ I was too happy and satisfied with my latest creation that I couldn't wait to try it on π€©. So, I immediately rocked it with a pair of black high waisted pants as purple and black are great matching colors. I took some photos and here are a few good ones I thought to share with you all βΊοΈ.
This is really just a simple crop top that can be styled with any choice of clothing. It is also very easy to crochet π.
Honestly, I enjoyed every part of the making and it was fun trying something new for the first time. I got to learn how to make a wearable clothing item for myself.
It seems the more I crochet, the more I want to keep crocheting. I literally want to try everything crochetable π .
Anyway, it's a few days left before the wip challenge finally comes to an end and I just want to say that I'm glad I hopped on this train π₯°. It's been fun reading the wip posts of fellow needleworkers and drawing inspiration from them. This would be my last wip post for this challenge. Two wips are enough for me, hehe. However, I hope @crosheille initiates something like this again because it's truly beautiful and motivating π.
I'd really appreciate your thoughts on how I did with the crop top π₯Ί... Please feel free to share your criticisms if any.
P.S. All photos are mine and taken with my cellphone.

It took six days to make this? Omo, was it like.... How many hours a day are you approximately spending? The choice of color is amazing. Might not be flawless, but it's beautiful..
Yes oo... I spend approximately four hours. Whenever I'm sitting and watching TV, I like to keep my hands busy with it.
I know right π€©... Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words β€οΈ
Pretty girl on a pretty top.

Awwn, Thanks babe! π₯°β€οΈ
The top looks really beautiful. Honestly, the mistake is not so noticeable when u rock the final piece and I learned something new today, I can braid my straps. I have never thought of that since I started crocheting. Kudos to you and your lovely work.
You're right, I also realized that and I'm relieved... Yes, I also didn't know I could braid mine but I learned it from watching a YouTube video.
Thank youuu! π₯°β€οΈ

The top crop dress is colorful and I'm just excited that after spending days not minding how you were bridged on the way by lack of yarn but in the end, you still got more from the market to move with your project.
Yes I guess that's how passionate I've become about crocheting. I like to finish whatever I started and give it my best.
