What Happens in the Streets of Buenos Aires? | Monomad Challenge

In every minute there are infinite moments that happen in the streets, if we detail very well and have patience we can capture those decisive moments, expressions and emotions that for street photography is essential when it comes to include the human element.

I was walking around the Monserrat neighbourhood, near the national congress because I knew that there is a lot of people there and I could surely have some interesting images.

What is that person sitting there in the bus station doing? He seems to have a radio and seems to be listening to something very important to him.

Before arriving in Monserrat I was passing through the Caballito neighbourhood and came across this:

What's a bicycle doing up there? 😅

Ok, it's cool the sign indicating that there is a lane for cyclists and that they circulate in that area, but was a real bicycle necessary? Maybe, it's unrelated and it's about something else.

Coming back to where we were (Monserrat) a person is waiting in a corner while sitting down using his phone and smoking a cigarette. I really like this photo because it is possible to give it some interpretations, it seems to be an employee after finishing his daily work day and is taking a break.

Within the composition I find interesting that other person in the background, who is walking towards the other side of the street.

Lately I have seen many people in the streets, on public transport and in enclosed places wearing masks, as in the case of this lady. It seems to me that the covid has returned and with it the terror of the people and it is not for less after all that year of anguish, confinement and fear. There is a lot of news about propagations at a very high level in Argentina...

However the use of these "protection" elements are still not mandatory, I even think that most of the people I see on the streets don't use them, especially tourists and speaking of tourists I seem to have come across a couple...

These two people were looking for a spot to prop up their phone so they could take a picture with the national congress building in the background, I assume they really wanted to get a good shot 🙂

I for my part had already finished my little tour of the neighbourhood and was going to the underground station to continue on my way, as I was walking I took this picture before entering... the black and white tiles on the floor had a kind of contrast that could (in my mind) form lines.

To end this series I decided to include a couple of photos that are not necessarily dedicated to people, emotions or expressions but rather of an iconic building in the area, the confitería del molino. This building is abandoned or rather completely unused, but it is a national historical monument and has been undergoing renovations and maintenance for a long time.

From time to time it opens its doors to be visited by tourists, residents and Argentineans through guided tours.

Here is a more detailed photo to appreciate its design, structures, balconies and reliefs. I hope to be able to organise my time and be there when they do a reopening so I can see all the facilities inside, it will surely be amazing.

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge by @monochromes.

Thanks for stopping by and appreciating!
