The English Neighborhood of Caballito, Buenos Aires [ENG/ESP]
Greetings friends! Today I want to share with you a very interesting post. It is about the English neighborhood in Caballito, Buenos Aires. I've been in this area for a long time and I had not heard about it before, a friend told me about this neighborhood that is also emblematic within the same neighborhood of Caballito and is comprised of random areas, it means, not a closed area.
It caught my attention so I decided to take a little tour to see what it is all about and admire these houses, walk through these areas and portray them.
Saludos amigos! Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un post muy interesante. Se trata del barrio inglés en Caballito, Buenos Aires. Hace muchísimo tiempo estoy por ésta zona y no había escuchado sobre esto anteriormente, un amigo me comentó sobre este barrio que es además emblemáticos dentro del mismo barrio de Caballito y que se comprende en zonas aleatorias, es decir no es una zona cerrada.
Me llamó muchísimo la atención así que decidí dar un pequeño recorrido para ver de qué se trata y admirar éstas viviendas, caminar por éstas zonas y retratarlas.
I liked so much the tour, the houses and the style of each one that I did a little research about it, so let's go with a little history of what this famous English neighborhood is about.
This comes from the XIX century according to what I have read, a great wave of English immigrants to the Argentinean country that started from 1820 to 1830 and later intensified in 1850 until 1880, but.... Why did this happen? For England it was not a bad economic moment, in fact by that time there was a solid economy and more sources of employment were generated after the arrival of the industrial revolution.
Me gustó tanto el recorrido, las viviendas y el estilo de cada una que investigué un poco al respecto, así que vamos con un poco de historia de lo que se trata este famoso barrio inglés.
Esto viene del siglo XIX según lo que he leído, una gran ola de inmigrantes ingleses hacia el país argentino que inicio desde 1820 a 1830 y que posteriormente se habría intensificado en 1850 hasta 1880, pero... ¿Por qué sucedió esto? Para Inglaterra no era un mal momento económico, de hecho para esa época había una sólida economía y se generaban más fuentes de empleo después de la llegada de revolución industrial.
So, leaving the country for a better quality of life in relation to the economic was not an ultimate goal, it was more about the social context. Many English people simply left in search of new opportunities... The United States was one of the chosen countries, however many others decided to go to Latin America and Argentina was one of the countries that had more immigrants.
With the arrival of the English also took place the construction of the first railroad of Buenos Aires and its construction began in 1853 and had a lot of English labor.
Así que, abandonar el país para una mejor calidad de vida en relación a lo económico no era un objetivo final, se trataba más en el contexto social. Muchos ingleses salieron en búsqueda de nuevas oportunidades simplemente... Estados Unidos era uno de los países elegidos, si embargo muchos otros decidieron ir a Latinoamérica y Argentina fué uno de los países que más inmigrantes tuvo.
Con la llegada de los ingleses también tuvo lugar la construcción del primer ferrocarril de Buenos Aires y empezó su construcción en 1853 y que tuvo muchísima mano de obra inglesa.
The Argentine government of that time dedicated a housing project for these workers who would be responsible for building the first railroad lines in the city, were built in different parts of the neighborhood of Caballito and in these photos you can see the facades of these beautiful houses.
Even by government decree it is forbidden to build buildings or make demolitions in that area. What do you think about it? Leave me a comment if you liked it 😊
El gobierno argentino de esa época dedico un proyecto de viviendas para estos trabajadores que llevarían la responsabilidad de construir las primeras líneas del ferrocarril en la ciudad, fueron edificadas en distintos puntos del barrio de Caballito y en estas fotos pueden observar las fachadas de estas hermosas casas.
Incluso por decreto del gobierno está prohibido construir edificios o hacer derrumbes en esa zona. Quedo de manera turística esto que se denomina El barrio inglés de Caballito. ¿Que les parece? Déjame un comentario si te gustó 😊

I think if I were to buy one, I would be in a lot of trouble as would not know which one to choose. I love architecture a lot and these are real beauties.
