A Historic Gem in Pilar.

This is an unusual post, but quite interesting in my opinion. I've never been a big fan of cars of any kind except for the '69 Camaro 😅, but I am quite a fan of old things in general. I've always been fascinated and captivated by things from the past, both objects and ways of life, especially from the 1960s to the 1990s. I'm not that old, but I'm not that young either. I would say that my personality is more in line with Generation X than the millennial generation.

I can come across anything from the era I mentioned earlier and be mesmerized, appreciating everything and living through what I'm seeing.

The photos I am sharing with you today are not exactly from that era, but from much earlier.

Last weekend, I came across this truck and didn't hesitate to take all these photos to share with you, to keep for myself, and to do some research on this vehicle, its features, and its history, apart from the fact that the colors are very striking. I didn't even know the name or anything related to it, but I immediately knew that it was something manufactured in the 1940s or 1950s, and I was right.

It's an International Harvester K-series truck that was built during the 1940s, but based on what I have read, this particular model was released between 1946 and 1949. These trucks were also used for military purposes due to their chassis type and were very famous and well known for being almost indestructible and very easy to repair.

These vehicles did not exceed 80 km/h, as they were not designed for speed, but rather for work, with speeds ranging from 60 km/h to 80 km/h.

Today, collectible vehicles have a lot of history behind them, both in terms of their manufacture and use, as well as in the fields of technology and automotive engineering. It is a pleasure and a great joy to witness this kind of thing, but even more so when it happens spontaneously, when you come across them on the streets without looking for them or going to a museum.

I hope you enjoyed this article as well as some of these photos. Have a nice weekend :)

That old thing is a beauty. Rarely see such old cars anymore. I do see them more often here in Armenia where they're still used and it's always nice. Especially when they're as far back as that truck: 1940s and approaching 50s.
