Inactive Cranes of Puerto Madero.

In the following series we are going to observe the cranes of Puerto Madero, what at first sight look like cranes destined to the loading and unloading of merchandise in the port now only forms part of the urban landscape of this neighborhood, it is like an emblem or icon that characterizes this area of the city. In the late 70's the state made the purchase of these cranes to Germany but it is not really known if it had a good operation of them, or if it really had any use, in the 90's the port was privatized and it was decided that this would be part of the landscape, so its preservation and conservation is only for decorative purposes of the neighborhood.

It really is a good attraction and makes Puerto Madero unique, it has been a tourist destination and obviously has served for the popular selfies and even photo shoots, in fact I recently did a session there for a musical group.

Curiously, while researching about these cranes I come across an article from 2019 where they report the suicide of an elderly person, retired from one of these cranes, not exactly one of the first but one of the later ones, the larger ones that are at the bottom next to people walking. News or events that I was totally unaware of and that I am just now learning about.

It is just an interesting fact that I share and it is a contrast to what is known about this neighborhood, everything has its dark side.

This is a neighborhood that deserves an article in which many aspects can be highlighted, Some sources say that this neighborhood was born by mistake, it was not planned, some other interesting and intriguing things. So, I intend to address that issue in a general way in a tourist mode, In a certain way it is also knowledge for me and novelty for you, separated from the photographic field but making a combination of both in that article.

I hope you enjoyed these photos and text, in addition. Have a wonderful weekend.

That reminds me of a Ferris wheel here in Puerto Ordaz, which was completely abandoned after the park closed, but it was never removed and has become an emblematic image of the city.
