EVERYDAY LIFE, Corners of Santa Fé Avenue - Monomad Challenge.

EVERYDAY LIFE_20251215_114038_0000.jpg

Moments of an Afternoon.

Greetings, friends. This is a new edition of Everyday Life. This time, I'm focusing on the corners of Santa Fe Avenue.

The truth is that when I go out to take some shots, I don't have anything planned: no defined theme, whether it be corners, buildings, shadows, or edges of light. I just go out and let everything be spontaneous.

When it comes to editing, I do make a selection and try to incorporate those photos that are more in line with the same style or theme. In this case, it's the corners of Santa Fe Avenue, on a short stretch of a few blocks, right on the border between the Palermo and Recoleta neighborhoods.

I still can't figure out exactly what it is that attracts me to buildings that are undergoing restoration, maintenance, or servicing. But they always have quite distinctive structures, which also cast shadows between the building and the area where people tend to walk.

For me, this creates a very interesting contrast, and I always end up focusing on it. I feel like something good is going to happen: the shadows, the light, a person walking through that space... I find these scenes very captivating.

The next photo, I believe, is of the same building, but this time focusing on the upper part: a kind of dome among shadows, some blurred areas, and trees around it.

Further down, you can see other corners of the city, in the same area, a little busier. People coming and going, some signs, and more elements in the scene. Perhaps with a little more visual distraction, but even so, I found the result quite interesting.

You can also see two forms of public transport in one of these photos. In the background, you can see bus line 64, and in the foreground, a bus with a screen showing all the available payment methods. In addition, there are other photos taken at different corners, where people are walking by. This area is full of shops and commercial establishments that may be attractive in some ways, but not so much in others. I think it all depends on the aesthetics of the place and who is passing by at that moment.

Everything influences it: a person with an umbrella, with bags, with a shopping cart... one scene may be more attractive than another.

I also had the opportunity to photograph other moments in different corners, and something that always catches my attention is when there is someone sitting on a bench. If it is an elderly person, I feel that it generates a much stronger impact and emotional charge, something more meaningful.

I hope you liked today's series. I can now go back to making covers, so little by little we will improve the format of future posts.

My friend, good hunting. Personally, I really like the photos with the metal scaffolding, but I can't tell you why. I don't know if it's because of the combination of the different depths in the image accompanied by the text and the figure of the person, but it feels natural, balanced, beautiful.
Speaking of the area, I live next to the market on Carlos Gardel, so we were close by, ha ha ha. Buses 64 and 68 are excellent, especially the latter, which is very comfortable to travel on.
