Architecture and Street Photography on Diagonal Norte.

DSC_0129.jpg

It's been almost a month since the last time I went out on the streets with the intention of doing street photography, until yesterday.... I was walking around an area of the city of Buenos Aires called Diagonal Norte, an attractive and interesting part of the Capital for its aesthetics and iconic buildings of great value. So today I'm going to combine a little bit of street photography with architecture, nothing complex just to appreciate in relation to photography.

Every time I find something orange it catches my attention because it stands out a lot, like for example the clothing of this man who was working on an electrical signaling system or something like that.

This man had a moderate amount of time waiting for something or someone, it wasn't exactly public transportation. I like the way he is dressed because it seems to be old style clothes, besides this I find it interesting that in the background in this place everything remains dark, which for me generates more emphasis on the human element.

Here below we have the entrance to the Bencich building... well one of them, you can see in the glass the reflection of other buildings in the area.

This time I didn't want to take pictures of the whole building, so I was only interested in its emblematic dome, in order to appreciate the details of aesthetics, reliefs and style of this structure that adorns Diagonal Norte.

In this place there are many gastronomic places and popular food stores such as Subway. For this occasion I was looking for a photo like this, I could say minimalist. It is just a sign of the store while in the background you can see columns of other historical buildings.

Florida street is very close to where I was, it is a street of currency exchange, foreign currencies in a formal and informal way, it is where the blue dollar is acquired as it is known in Argentina (informal dollar) so that street is very busy. As a photography exercise I decided to get closer and take one picture while people were walking in front of me.

On my way back I stumbled upon a new two-wheeler store. I am a fan of motorcycles in particular so I stood there for a while looking at all the models and in front of the store this bike was on display.

Whenever I feel a connection with some kind of photography, at a certain point I look for a way to do something different with it. It has happened to me with architecture and buildings. In the past I was looking for a way to portray them as a whole and from different angles. Nowadays I look to play more close up thinking about details and shadows.

The following photo is of the Equitativa del Plata building and is one of my favorites from this set. I love how you can appreciate that curved shape, the windows and a strip of shadow at the top.

This is a shorter focal length view, showing the building with its dome.

I like this photo a bit more because you can also see on the right side the other Bencich building, some trees and that whole set of windows diagonally because of the perspective.

By the way I took additional random photos looking for different compositions also as a personal photographic exercise. As I mentioned before I was looking to incorporate shadows between or on buildings, punctual contrasts and something else.

This is a small part of a neo-gothic style building where the COMAFI bank is located.

Here we can see a contrast between modern and old. Looking for some lines or geometry I found this building covered by glass and it was necessary for me that it was in black and white, although if it had been in a high place I would have gotten a more centered shot.

Below I share with you the top of the other Bencich building, the one next to the Equitativa del Plata building.

Remember the popular Florida street? This is a very detailed fragment of a building and lamps that adorn this part of Diagonal Norte. In black and white it is much more interesting, as well as generating a vision of yesteryear in my opinion.

If you liked this part of the city, any shot or building I invite you to leave me a comment.

That's all, friends! Thanks for stopping by and appreciating.

The photos were taken at different locations.
Still don’t if the 21st century will look this beautiful without architecture.

Beautiful shots my friend, the building looks really nice, and beautiful.
I think it is also well maintained, like it the man in the orange uniform does.

I liked that shot too. There are some buildings here that are very well preserved, which is important. I'm glad you liked these photos, friend. Thank you for appreciating and sorry for late reply!
