Morning Vibes at Lhokseumawe Bay
It's still too early in the morning, I tried my luck this morning to see the morning atmosphere in the city of Lhokseumawe Bay. From the house I went by motorbike, the distance I traveled was not too far from the bay which was once a trading center which was quite busy being visited by merchant ships in the old days.
Even though this doesn't happen anymore here, Lhokseumawe Bay still has its own beauty. Moreover, every day fishing boats can still be seen passing by there.
I arrived there 10 minutes after my departure at home, when I arrived there I parked my motorbike at the fish landing center in Dizzy Village, Lhokseumawe. This morning the water seemed to be receding, I also tried to go down and walk along the shore of Lhokseumawe Bay.
Traditional fishing activities can be seen fishing and catching fish in the bay which has an estuary from Krueng Cunda, Lhokseumawe city.
In the past, a Dutch sea captain, Von Schmidt noted in his book, Telok Semawe, de Beste Haven op Atjeh's Noordkust (Teluk Samawi, The Best Harbor on the North Coast of Aceh), 1887, that Teluk Samawi is located about 6 miles west of Diamont Point ( the northeastern point of the island of Sumatra), and was designated for trade. The west coast is the seat of the Samawi Bay Country, which is now known as the City of Lhokseumawe.
While loading a map of the Samawi Bay in his book, this sea captain also stated that the Samawi Bay has a good location, where at the same time, hundreds of large ships can find good anchorages, and large numbers of small ships can leaning near the shore. In fact, under conditions of persistent northeasterly winds, bamboo groves and beaches can persist along the lagoon suitable not only for small boats, but also for navigable vessels. Source
Although now Lhokseumawe City Bay is no longer one of the bustling harbor centers, at least fishing boats still use Lhokseumawe City Bay as an anchorage to wait for the high tide so they can head to the mainland.
This morning I enjoyed the atmosphere in the bay that never dies, even though now there are only fishermen here, I feel the atmosphere of Lhokseumawe Bay is still decent enough to be visited by large and sailing ships. Hopefully, in the future, this bay will again be visited by ships coming from the former, so that the atmosphere will be more lively and it can become the center of a city tourist destination, of course.
