STREET ART #247– Something new at the Le Gaudan Waterfront in Port Louis, Mauritius

Now that I am back in Mauritius, I have had a walk around the city centre in the capital Port Louis. I was eager to find out if there is something new since last year. At the Le Gaudan Waterfront I found out there is a new mural on the appartment complex. Le Gaudan is a shopping complex with lots of shops, restaurats, with a great location by the harbor. Except from this building holding apartments.

By the channel you will find this building. Three murals are painted here. The photo above shows the newest mural. A colorful figure holding a drum. This kind of drum is used by local musicians when they are playing the Sega music. This music originated on the island and most locals also knows how to dance Sega.

The other two murals are not new. I have already done posts with both, but they still look good. The child is painted by an artist named Armand Gachet, who lives in Mauritius, but originally he is from South Africa. He has done several beautiful murals on the island.

The «heart» is painted by an artist named Gael Froget. A Mauritian contemporary artist, born in 1986. He is self-taught and creative within in many different gengres in addition to street art. He in especially known for his anatomical hearts. I have allready done a post with one of his «hearts».

I just arrived the island a few weeks ago and haven't been to Port Louis more than a couple of times. I hope to discover some more murals.

Very cool works on this building. The style of the new mural looks familiar... I've seen something like it in Montreal before. I need to find it again. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Have a lovely weekend
