STREET ART #232 – Life at the harbor in Hals, Denmark

This beautiful painting shows how life unfolds at the harbor in Hals. "Livet på Hals Havn" means "Life at the harbor in Hals». The painting is long, so it's hard to get the whole mural in one photo. It shows quite well what it's like to live in this small town. Hals is located on the east coast of Denmark, where the Limfjord flows into the sea. This small town is therefore largely characterized by fishing. The town has no more than about 2,500 inhabitants. But because of the sea and the beautiful east coast, the town sees many tourists in the summer.

The painting gives a good picture of this small town, as I know it. My parents lived here in Hals for a while, so I have been here many times. The harbor and fisheries dominate the cityscape. The painting shows fishermen, small fishing boats, and children and adults walking on the harbor.

The painting seems to show a more idyllic side of being life as a fisherman. But I do imagine it is a hard and demanding profession. The painting is signed Kung (2025). I haven't managed to find out more about the artist.
