STREET ART #223 – Art that tells about Skørping, Denmark

These works of art are found in a pedestrian tunnel that runs under the railway tracks in Skørping. The town is not big, but located in one of the biggest attractions in the area – Rold Skog / Rold Forest. Location is right in the middle of this natural landscape which is the second largest forested area in Denmark. Skørping has 3,056 inhabitants (2002).

When I was here with one of my sisters, we took a short walk in the centre of Skørping. The railway passes through town and this is where we fount these decorated walls. We start from one side walking along the wall. Both sides are completely covered.

By looking at the clothes and the surroundings, we understand that it must be sometime in the Middle Ages.We also see a witch here ... I have previously read about a witch from Skørping. I don't remember the details about her anymore, but witchcraft and witches being burned at the stake are well known from the Middle Ages. Now we are at the end of the tunnel and move to the other side.

Moderne times is the theme on the wall. We assumed that this page shows people and activities in the city. The fact that the railway is passing this small town, seems important to people living here.

A boy with his dog. There are probably a lot of dog owners here too. They obviously have a skateboard park too. We didn't see it. What we did was park our car in the city center and walk around the streets a bit. Since it was Sunday, we only saw a couple of people out. But the artist have given us some idea of life in Skørping. Both then and now.

Great works in this underpass. The medieval style reminds me of the movie Robin Hood. I really like the frog, very well done. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Have a wonderful day
