STREET ART #219 – Beautiful paintings in a municipal swimming pool (Denmark)

These beautiful paintings are found in the municipal swimmingpool in Nørresundby. This large swimmingpool concists of large pools, but also holds wellness and fitness. «Skansen Bad» is a complete sports center. In addition to the two swimming pools, tthey have courses, training and conference facilities. Nørresundby is located north of Aalborg. Together with one of my sisters, we did a bicycle tour across the Limfjord to Nørresundby. First stop was here at Skasen Bad. She knew about the murals painted here. We did not go there to swim or do any kind of sports. We simply asked permition to go inside to look at the paintings done by street artist NADA. Fortunatly we were granted permition.

This mural was the first on our way to the largest swimmingpool. The motif is appropriate for a swimming pool. A girl swimming. But she has a tail that resembles a mermaid's tail.

The next is a wall that runs along the length of the largest of the swimming pools. We were allowed to walk along and take photos. It wasn't easy because of the area is wery narrow. If we had wanted more distance, we would have fallen into the water!

The artist behind all of these is Frida Stiil Vium, aka NADA. She is a Danish street artist who in 2014 established «Project NADA»». Since then she has already made sure she is known in Aalborg. (I have already posted quite a few of her previous works). She has made Aalborg a more colorful city, as her works are always filled with colors. It's really an advantage that I have several sisters in Aalborg, who keep a close eye on the street art in the city.

Oh wow, the mural of the mermaid fits perfectly at that place! The colors are also awesomely bright. I'd speculate that the tail could be a way to remind swimmers to not get too attached to their human nature :)
