STREET ART #217 – Impressive art at Mehringplatz in Berlin, Germany

In the area aoround Mehringplatz there are several impressive murals. We had been walking in a straight line from Checkpoint Charlie when we first discovered one of the murals – the colorful elephant painted by Jadore Tong. That mural is located in Wilhelmstraße, by a sport field. By following the mural around the corner of the building, we were standing with our back to another building with these three wonderful murals. I believe the adress is Wilhelmstraße too, but I am not sure.

When we turn around this is what we see. The world, as we know it is breaking apart. What happened here? The world is on fire! War or natural disaster? When we study the painting, it gives a gloomy picture. Our thoughts went to both the wars that are going on in Europe and in Gaza..Quite a gloomy picture of our time. Impressive!

Then we turn another corner in order to get back to the main street and notice these two. It was impossible to get good photos. There is a high and dense hedge that makes it difficult to get into a good position, but we did get some idea because of the size.

These were great finds and some of the most impressive I saw in Berlin.

I don't think I saw those when I was living in Berlin and was at checkpoint Charlie so many times too.

It is only an extra 5-8 minutes walk, straight down from Checkpoint Charlie only 5-8 minutters.maybe you get a chance when you are back in Berlin🙂

Stunning wall with this work... I didn't see it as gloomy, but rather as a bearer of hope, with a kind of vacuum cleaner to remove man's madness.

Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Enjoy your weekend

I am glad your first reaction was hope... That was not my first reaction...that came much later, by looking at again and again...

Cordial greetings @digi-me is a majestic and imposing mural, full of details and open to different interpretations. It is a surrealistic artistic manifestation, where the irrational and the absurd meet, but if we delve into our daily life, sometimes the convulsive and unbridled is exacerbated, generating imbalance, disturbing the experiential balance. Thanks for sharing !HUG !PIZZA
