STREET ART #205 – Tropical themes on an Indian Ocean island
Since last week I have done a couple of posts from the small island Rodriques in the Indian Ocean. This small island is part of the larger island Mauritius. Even these two are connected, as part of the same country, they seem worlds apart. Check my «wedensday walk» two days ago, where you will see photos from one of the hikes this island is famous for. We were staying in Baladirou from where our morning walk started.
The photos of this cabin with marine life as theme, is placed excactly where the starting point of our coastal walk begins. The photos are taken just after 06 o'clock in the morning ( our walk was an early morning walk).Thats why you will see pinkish clouds on some of the photos. This cabin focus on sea turtles and the importance of saving these. Beautifully painted by an artist who has signed with @max_jeresias_andre. I found that he is on Instagram, but with a private acount. But there is a link to his facebook acount. Seems he was educated at the university in Mauritius, and currently living in France.
Later the same day we went to Port Mathurin a few kilometers west of Baladirou. This town is the biggest on the island. At the harbor front we found this painting. Mucical instruments like the flat, round drum is used when musicians play sega ( local music of Rodriques and Mauritius), tropical flowers, fruit and sea turtles. All found on the island. It wasn't easy to get good photos because of the distance, boats and some young boys jumping into the water for a swim.
These are found in another street. One of them is painted on the shutter on a shop. I have no idea about the artist. Great to discover some street art on Rodriques as well.
