STREET ART #188 – End of the Line - Street Art Festival in Aalborg (Denmark)

This week I will continue with murals painted during the street art festival “End of the Line” in Aalborg (29th August – 1st September). This festival is the first major street art festival of this kind in Aalborg. After what I have understood, this is going to be a yearly event. Last week I did a post from the first two days at Gammeltorv. This week I am posting photos from Karolinelund. The festival was divided between these two areas. The first two days was from Gammeltorv and the last two from Karolinelund. This is a recreational park in the city center. But a very popular place for artists all year round.





In this park the artists have focused more on traditional graffiti and street art. Still, the artists were both well-known locals and international artists. Fortunately, most of them are painted on walls. Therefore, they will last for some time. That was not the case on Gammeltorv!






The artists themselves were given complete freedom to decide what they wanted to paint. This festival has been a great way of being exposed to a free art exhibition. Meeting the artists and being able to follow the development, must have been a great experience. The two people who took the initiative to arrange the festival hope that this will help to change the way people think of street art: as an art form, not illegal graffiti.



This is the largest Street Art Festival ever in Denmark. This festival aims to make Aalborg the street art hub in Denmark and among the top three in Scandinavia. More than 50 artists have been invited to participate. I am already looking forward to next years festival.
