STREET ART #153 - The district of Palermo in Buenos Aires (Argentina)

When I was in Buenos Aires I stayed in the district of Palermo for three nights after arrival. We continued to other areas of Argentina before we came back to Buenos Aires again. The first few days was spent in Palermo. We were visting cemetaries, parks and botanical gardens. When doing just that, we had to walk the streets. There are street art every where, which made us stop many, many times.

Before arriving I read somewhere that Buenos Aires is one of the cities in Latin America that has the best street art. I don't know, as I haven't been to many Latin American cities. This is only a very small selection in one area of the city.

There is a great variety of street art here in Palermo, as you can see. I have already done a couple of posts with a more political orientation. At the end of the time of the dictatorship most of the street art would have political slogans written on the paintings. But after the 80s this has changed.

Many shops and restaurants have beautiful painted walls. Some times we would enter a rather short and narrow street where there are paintings on every house. It felt as a real treat to walk the streets here.
