๐Ÿ“ธ PhotoFeed Contest - Wildlife Photography #157 : An early morning on Isabela island (Galapagos)

This is a Flightless Cormorant, seen at PuntaVicente Roca on the west coast of Isabela. It's early in the morning. I am sitting in a small panga /zodiac when seeing a group of Cormorants. It is quite a big bird. The zise is about 90-100 cm. Which makes it the largest cormorant in the world. The special thing about this bird is that it cannot fly. Its wings are far too short for that to be possible. The wings probably evolved because it was not necessary to be able to fly. There are no predators on the island.
