PhotoFeed Contest - Landscape Photography #53 : The view from the top of a volcano

Last year I was visiting the Azorean island called Pico. This small island is completely dominated by at quiescent stratovolcano located on the island. This volcano is 2351 meters above sea level. This hight makes it the highest mountain in Portugal. I did a hike to the top. The photo was taken quite early in the morning. Our side of the mountain is in the shadow, but we got a great view toward another Azorean island - Faijal. It was still early in the morning. I was om ny way up. On our teturn there were no close.

I have witnessed plenty of mountains but never a volcano now that I think of it!

This volcano is still alive... but sleeping. At the top we could feel the warmth. The view was amazing.
