📸 PhotoFeed Contest - Cityscape Photography #164 : The capital of Ecuador

The main square in Quito, Ecuador, Plaza Grande, seen from the top of Catedral Metropolitan. Quito i located in the Andes at 2.850 meters above sealevel. The white building in the front is called Palacio Arzobispal or The Archbishop's Palace, as it used to be the palace of the former archbishop. The building now houses restaurants and small shops. The church you see in the background and to the left is Basilica del Voto Nacional. This is an impressive church that can be seen from far away. It dates back to the 1880s. Actually it is not completely finished, even though it looks finished. There is a local legend saying that when the constructions come to an end, then the world will also come to an end...I don't know if there is, or when there is a plan to complete the construction.... I teach a few dozen Ecuadorian students every year at my middle school here in Bushwick, Brooklyn. These pictures of the city give me a little insight into their homeland. We mostly just talk about the national soccer team and Moises Caicedo (I'm a huge Chelsea supporter).

That unfinished church tower with its legend is wild, who knew architectural warnings came with deadlines?
