I was privileged to attend a picnic yesterday and it was organized by my church. I've never attended a church picnic so I didn't know what to expect but I decided to still attend. It's been a crazy week, crazy month, everything was totally exhausting because I'm currently writing my end of the semester examination.

A week to this picnic, we made contributions towards the picnic. We had a meeting and decided on what kind of food to prepare, what to bring to the picnic, games to be played etc.

Yesterday was finally D-Day. The picnic was held in the University's nursery school children's playground. It was an open space that had some playing gadgets like swing, merry-go-round, jingle over and slides. We kept chairs on the field and sat in a circle.

We started by singing and praying after which we introduced ourselves and we talked about our hobbies, best colour and best food.
The children were separated from the adults and were allowed to play around under the watch of the church's children teachers.

Next was game time! The first game we played was bursting the balloons. Two people were selected from two departments - the drama and choir departments respectively. They were given a sack full of balloons which was kept at a distance and were asked to run towards it and pick a balloon then run back to their seat and burst it. They were to continue this till they both exhausted the balloons in their sack. In the end, the drama department won.

The next game was the dressing game. For this game 4 ladies and 4 young men were chosen. First the ladies sat down and the men were given head ties to tie on the ladies in 1 minute and 30 seconds. This game was so fun. The men did their best.

Next the ladies were given a tie and were asked to tie it on their partner. The ladies all made very funny ties. It was a beautiful watch. Each partner was asked to walk out hand in hand and they were assessed. It was difficult to have a winner in pairs so the winners were declared categorically - among the guys and among the ladies.

The next game was tug of war. This game consisted of 5 guys and 5 girls mixed in two groups. They were given a rope and each team dragged on opposite ends. There was no winner here as the two teams did well and no one could successfully drag the other for minutes. The game had to be stopped so no one would get injured.

The last game for adults was the chair dance game. I was a part of this game. The game consisted of 5 people - 3 ladies and two guys. Four chairs were provided and we were to dance round the chair and sit once the music stopped. The chairs were limited compared to our number so one person wouldn't have a chair when we all sit and the person would be kicked out. We continued till we were just two with only a chair left for the best person to win. Sadly, I lost to another girl. I couldn't take pictures of this game because I was playing. I only have a recorded video.

We were served jollof rice with peppered chicken, cake and soft drinks. It was a really wonderful day for us all. I didn't think a church picnic would be nice but it was Lovely. We discussed issues pertaining to marriage and relationships. It was more interesting to watch the pastors play with us and have fun like teenagers.
