My artistic weekend: Look what my little hands could do
It's a really sunny Sunday and the weather has been so warm since yesterday. I've been very happy about it because the last weekend, it rained all through. I looked out for the Weekend Experience writing prompt as usual but this time I was totally clueless of what to do after reading through them. Artistic weekend was the only option I felt like going for and I did. This is what the option said:
Your artistic weekend
Create an artwork of yourself using any medium you choose, engaging in one of your favourite weekend activities, photograph it, post it and explain your artwork. (The artwork must be of your own creation)
While in secondary school, I remember that during the Christmas period we used to make drawings and paintings and all sorts of decorations for our classrooms and viola! I figured just what to do in participation of this week's WE.
First, I went to the market and bought a cardboard, 2 wrapping papers, a top gum, a pencil and an eraser. I got a scissors from my dad and voom! I dashed to a field which is my favourite spot in my hometown. I wanted somewhere quiet where I could concentrate. When I got there,I looked for a comfortable spot and found one. I brought out my tools and started work.
I began with making borders on my cardboard. I like marking out my work space whenever I'm working on a paper, I feel it makes my work look more organized. After that, I thought of what to write on the cardboard. I couldn't think of anything better than the community name so I began to write it. Below it I decided to to draw the divider I use often in my post. It has the Hive logo at the center of it. That came out well, I guess. For someone who isn't good at drawing anything, I was surprised.
Next, I figured the empty space left was too much and I thought I should fill that with my name so I scribbled a stylish @didiee which I don't think cane out so well. With this, the first part of my work was done. I wrapped up my cardboard and went back home to continue my work.
Part 2
This is the part of my work that made me begin to regret trying to be artistic 😂. I didn't have a choice but to keep on because I couldn't afford to waste my money buying materials and not have to fulfill the purpose of getting them in the first place.
The second stage had me cutting the wrapping paper into smaller and tiny pieces to give me glitters. Using my gum,I pasted the glitters on the letters I drew so that the pencils were no longer visible, just the letters. I carved out some flowers on the wrapping paper and pasted them to make an extra design. I had to be really careful when I was pasting the glitters around the logo so it will still stand out after I'm done.
I was honestly very exhausted so I didn't add glitters to my name. I decided to shade them. I'm not sure it's so bad. This is the little I was able to do. Though it was very stressful, I am glad I was able to finish it and though imperfect, it looks nice to me. Tell me what you think about my little weekend creation, I'm curious 😁
