Hola, queridos amigos de Hive.
Hoy quiero compartir un post que tiene muchísima importancia para mí. Se trata de la fiesta de Corpus Cristi.
Yo soy católica, apostólica, Roma y Guarenera. Entonces esta fecha,es importante y más puesto que en la parroquia donde voy a misa, lleva ese nombre y es la única con ese nombre a nivel del estado Aragua. Por ende, es un gran honor ser parte de esta celebración.
También es conocido este día, por qué danzan los conocidos Diablos Danzantes de Yare. Y en el estado Aragua hay 5 cofradías de estos Diablos.
Bueno paso a contar un poco lo que fue la celebración eucarística de ese día.

Today I want to share a post that has a lot of importance for me. It is about the feast of Corpus Christi.
I am catholic, apostolic, Roman and Guarenera. So this date is important and even more so since the parish where I go to mass bears that name and is the only one with that name in the state of Aragua. Therefore, it is a great honor to be part of this celebration.
This day is also known for the dance of the Diablos Danzantes de Yare. And in the state of Aragua there are 5 brotherhoods of these devils.

La misa comenzó a las 11 de la mañana, presidida por el párroco, el padre José Luis González.
La música estuvo a cargo un grupo (me disculpo porque no recuerdo el nombre), me pareció muy bueno los instrumentos que tenían y amenizaron perfectamente en la misa. Y eso que solo era una guitarra eléctrica, un teclado y un violonchelo.
El padre José Luis, es conocido por hacer misas de avivamiento y de sanación, y está no fue la excepción. En la parte de las ofrendas, una señora, junto con su hijo, provenientes de Chuao, trajeron el traje que usan los Diablos y explicó un poco la realización del mismo. Yo particularmente no tenía conocimiento de eso. Y lo realizan las mujeres, debido a que ellas no pueden danzar. Lo realizan a mano, le colocan 3 cruces de palma bendita al pantalón y 3 a la camisa. El largo del pantalón determina los rangos que tienen. Las máscaras anteriormente llevaban más trabajo, pero hoy en día las hacen de fibra de vidrio, son más ligeras. Llevan un palo con el cual tratan de pegarle a las mujeres que les gritan. Dato curioso: las mujeres no saben o no deben saber quién es el hombre detrás del disfraz.
Creo que por último diré que tienen diferentes tipos de danzas, las cuales realizan dependiendo de la ocasión. No pudimos contar con los Diablos ese día, por situación de transporte, por falta de gasolina y gasoil.

The mass began at 11:00 a.m., presided by the parish priest, Father José Luis González.
The music was provided by a group (I apologize because I do not remember the name), I thought the instruments they had were very good and they played perfectly during the mass. And it was only an electric guitar, a keyboard and a cello.
Father Jose Luis, is known for doing revival and healing masses, and this one was no exception. In the offertory part, a lady and her son, from Chuao, brought the costume worn by the Diablos and explained a little about the making of it. I particularly had no knowledge of it. And it is made by women, because they cannot dance. They do it by hand, they put 3 blessed palm crosses on the pants and 3 on the shirt. The length of the pants determines the ranks they have. The masks used to take more work, but nowadays they are made of fiberglass, they are lighter. They carry a stick with which they try to hit women who yell at them. Fun fact: the women don't or shouldn't know who the man behind the costume is.
I guess lastly I will say that they have different types of dances, which they perform depending on the occasion. We could not count on the Diablos that day, because of the transportation situation, due to lack of gasoline and gasoil.

Continúa la celebración, cuando llega la parte final, es cuando hay exposición del santísimo y recorre diferentes altares que se realizan. Los altares en esta ocasión los realizaron grupos de apostolados que hacen vida en la parroquia y dos colegios que quedan cerca de la iglesia. Aquí les compartiré fotos de cada altar.

The celebration continues, when the final part arrives, is when there is an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and it goes through the different altars that are made. The altars on this occasion were made by groups of apostolates that make life in the parish and two schools that are near the church. Here I will share photos of each altar.

Cuando finalizan las visitas a los altares, el sacerdote da la bendición final. Pero la parroquia sigue de fiesta, así que hay venta de comida y bebidas, grupos de bailes y música. Además por segundo año consecutivo, la elección de la reina de Corpus Cristi. Las candidatas son señoras de la tercera edad. Nuevamente no pude asistir, pero me facilitaron unas fotos de ellas, para poder las compartir.

When the visits to the altars are over, the priest gives the final blessing. But the parish is still celebrating, so there are food and drinks for sale, dance groups and music. Also, for the second consecutive year, the election of the queen of Corpus Cristi. The candidates are ladies of the third age. Again I could not attend, but I was given some pictures of them, so I could share them with you.
