This was a learning experience

Growing cannabis in the winter can have its challenges. Ive had some grows where I have tried to germinate a set of 5 seeds for a specific strain, and none of them sprouted. Now, with this latest grow, I learned how important heat and proper light distance is during the seedling phase.

It has been a week since my last update on these two plants and since then, they have not been doing well at all. My grow room had been getting down to around 62 degrees at night. I also had my lights too far away from them, so they werent getting proper light exposure. @futuremind told me about an app that you can check your light intensity with and when I checked, my plants were getting a little less than half of what they should have been getting.

So, with the cold temps and the low light exposure, these two little seedlings have stalled in their growth. It wouldn't be as big of a deal if they were photo period, but since they are autos, they most likely will not recover from this. Autos have a specific life span and do not do well with stress that takes away from their growth time, so in the next few days, I will be removing these two from their pots.

I am going to be sad to pull these two, but they have lost most of the green color they had and have started to yellow and droop. Over the past week, I have tried to revive them, but I think they are too far gone to be saved. By now, they should have a lot more leaves and be a lot taller and thicker.

I've got one Northern Lights autoflower seed germinated and in a little grow cup. I also started an OG Kush photoperiod. I am going to be putting the OG Kush in the seven gallon pot eventually, and since the Northern Lights is an autoflower, that will go in a five gallon pot.

The Northern Lights grow wasnt a total waste. I did get some knowledge out of it, but it sucks that I am going to be three weeks behind schedule and will have to wait longer to have some fresh homegrown. I have a little heater for the grow room now, so it wont too cold in there now. I also moved my mycelium jars into the grow room as well so they can be a consistent temperature. The humidity of the grow room will be good for the mushrooms when I begin fruiting them as well.

So while it sucks to throw out some seedlings, it will be nice to get these next two seeds started and be able to take care of them better.
