The hummingbirds must be thirsty

This morning, I woke up pretty early. I always have a hard time sleeping the first night in a new place, so I decided to go out exploring the area now that I can actually see what there is out there. When we got in last night, it was already so dark and we couldn't see anything. This area is so beautiful and I am excited to go out with my camera and explore things a bit before spending the rest of the day in the pool.
When I was going around the resort taking pictures, one of the workers was out and asked me if I had seen the hummingbirds yet. He told me that they had a bunch of feeders set up and that a bunch of hummingbirds gather around them to get something to eat.
It took a while of standing near the feeders for the hummingbirds to build up the courage to get close again and get a drink. I wish I had a longer lens for these types of shots so that I don't have to be so close. The 100mm is good for macro shots, but it isn't ideal for these types of shots since I have to crop in my photos more than I like to.
I am still pretty happy with how these shots turned out. I was probably taking pictures of them for about 30 minutes and so many people passed me and probably thought I was a weirdo because I was just standing in the middle of a flock of hummingbirds for so long. It did get pretty hot while I was out there and it is still pretty early in the day. I have a feeling it is going to be a hot one here in the desert today.

Holy shit Wes, these shots are amazing! I've never seen a hummingbird myself, but aren't those wings flappin' with MACH 3 speed?
Thanks man. Ya, these things are so fast. I have my shutter speed at like 1/6400 of a second so I can stop their wings. But even with that, sometimes they are still so fast.
Those are some great shots for sure! I love hummingbirds, they are pretty spectacular little creatures, lol.
They really are cool little creatures. It's crazy how fast they beat their wings.
shut the front door! These are amazing. And they are so difficult to capture this clear. congrats.
Thanks. I was so close to them when I was taking these and these little birds are so fast.
I know. That's why I gasped out loud when I saw these images!
Great shots, Wes. Stalking the wild hummingbird suits you.
You ever been to Capital Reef NP in April? About a gazillion hummingbirds in migration stop in there.
Thanks Tom. It was a lot of fun getting these shots. I've been to Capitol Reef before, just not to see the hummingbirds. That sounds awesome.
Stunning captures with the gear you had… don’t mind the others. Just stand there and have fun 😉😎
Thank you. It was so cool. They were buzzing all around me.
You are welcome @derangedvisions 😊 So far I only seen one hummingbird in real life when we where visiting Guadeloupe. Never anything like you encountered. 😎 So I can imagine how cool it was.

Wonderful shots, nice to see them here Wes ! 😃
Thank you. The birds were so cool to see up close like this. My wife and I always see a couple hummingbirds on our daily walks, but never up close like this.
