Let the Flowering Begin - August 1st

Day one

Well, the time has come. It is time for this Granddaddy Purple to begin its next phase of life. I just switched the lights to stay on for 12 hours and be off for 12 hours. This will induce the flowering phase of this plant where she will be for the next 8-10 weeks and during that time, she will (hopefully) produce some super fat nugs of beautiful cannabis.

She has done amazingly over the last two months and really started to fill up the space in the tent. The next two weeks, she will begin what is called the preflower stretch where she will focus her energy creating some new growth and pushing upwards towards the light to get in the best position for collecting as much light as possible.

Shoutout to @futuremind for 3D printing me this awesome name plate.

This veg cycle has been great for creating a nice thick and strong stem and root system that will feed and support this plant throughout the remainder of its life cycle. I think this is going to end up being my greatest grow to date. I have really focused a lot of my time and energy into creating a strong and healthy plant.

These main branches are very strong and I attribute that to the training I have been putting her through during the last two months. Daily bending and massaging of the branches have really thickened them up and created some thick knuckles where the branches meet the stem. I wish I could see the root system that this plant has. I really think she has expanded under the soil and filled up the 10 gallon pot that she is in.

She is ready and primed for flower. She has already been producing the white hairs thats purpose is to collect pollen from the male plants in order to create seeds. With this being only plant I have, I do not need to worry about her making seeds, but instead she is going to be able to focus all her energy on those fat buds that will be here soon.

She hasn't made it up above the second layer of netting yet, but over this next week, she will definitely grow up over it. I will continue to bend and shape the canopy to create a nice even canopy where all the bud sites are getting light. Creating an even canopy is one of the best methods I have found when it comes to growing thick buds.
Light penetration during flower is extremely important and this is when I will turn all my lights up to their full power. In previous grows, I never really paid attention to the power of my lights and just kept them on full power pretty much the entire growth cycle, but I have been very careful to not blast the plant with the full power during the early cycle and I feel it has made a huge difference in the health and size of this plant.

Stay tuned because this plant is really going to start taking off. It is on par to become my greatest plant ever and I am aiming for at least a pound of very high quality cannabis.
That granddaddy purple is looking healthy, awesome level canopy with the net too, it's looking ready for lots of bud growth. One of these days I'll try out the scrog method.
Thanks man. I don't think I will grow without using a scrog net anymore. Except for autos. I don't think it is worth trying to do much training with those. I think I stunted a lot of growth with all the training I was doing on autos. I can't wait to grow another auto and just let it do its thing.
@futuremind did a good job, this looks great.
I'm always ready here man, I know these plants grow really fast after a while 🌿
Ya, the name plate turned out really great. It's gonna be crazy how fast this one grows over the next two months of flower.
This plant looks awesome! Just showing of with that sexy name plate! 🤣😎
I would never have considered using lower power lighting either. My only thought would be red LED or CFL for veg and blue (+red) LED or HPS for flower.

I don't have lights with all those special colors or anything. Mine can be used for all growth cycles with just an adjustment of the intensity. LEDs have come a very long way lately.
They have definitely come a long way! As soon as I have the cash I'll pick up a panel! A few other things I need to purchase first though :(
You won't regret the purchase of a high quality LED.
Thanks for the shoutout bro, loving how that name plate looks with this beastly GDP.
I think it's going to be one of your best grows for sure.
Is this GDP an autoflower? It looks like she's already well into flower with those pistil formations.
I thought it was odd when there were so many pistils on this plant but looking into it, they are just preflower pistils that some plants can get. She isn't an auto flower, so I'm jot worried that she was going into flower early. I think she is just ready to grow some massive buds.
That's the craziest amount of pre-flower pistils that I've ever seen.
If it's any indicator of the buds to come, this is going to be freak show level growth.
Keep up the good work man!
I have never tried the lights on/off method, hope to get some learning from this particular grow.
You grow with lights always on??
Yes, 24x7
These plants need a dark cycle to recover. Try switching things up. Autos can do lights on 24/7 but they still prefer some darkness.
I'll definitely note that down 👍
Amazing details of the plant! Even me that hated botanics in my biology school enjoyed it! For sure you will also enjoy what this plant will produce for you guys ;)
Thanks. This is such a great strain. I can't wait to see how she does in the next couple months.
Very nice, awesome work.
Thanks
That is such a cool lable FM printed for you. Youll have to grow GDP permantaly now, lol. Looking good dude, can wait to see what it looks like a few weeks from now.

Plants have to take a lot of care, watering on time and many things to take care of. We see that you also work very hard. I see all their posts myself, they also work very hard and many of their plants grow up very well. @futuremind
Thanks
