I love the dandelions in my yard

They are so bright

Over the years, our front yard has become overrun by dandelions. A couple years ago, we tried our best to get rid of them and spent a lot of our free time pulling them up.

We wanted a perfect yard, but over the last couple years, we have decided that we don't care about having a typical green lawn, but instead, we embraced the dandelions and we are making our yard a sanctuary for bees and other animals.

Bees are probably one of the most important species on the planet. Pollinators do so much each year, and it is important to do what we can to take care of them. This means, we need to plant more flowers and let our dandelions do their thing.

Bees also hold a very special place in our hearts because of our little Marshal man that was taken from us almost a year ago. I love seeing bees now because it makes me feel like his spirit is still with us.

For these shots, I used my Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. That lens allows me to get super close to them.

Most people are scared of being stung, but I don't ever feel like these bees are going to sting me when I am taking their picture.

As long as I watch where I am stepping and make sure that I don't step on one of these little guys, they leave me alone. They are usually too busy flying from flower to flower to even notice me.

It is a lot of fun taking pictures of them. I move around the flowers with the bees snapping a few shots on each flower and then follow them to the next one.

They look so cool when they are covered in pollen. I can't wait for our wildflowers to return and start blooming so I can get pictures of them in those flowers as well.

Bees also hold a special place in my heart but I get scared of them because of how they sting people. The pictures of these bees are beautiful though
I love them!

I have only been stung by bees when I have bothered them. I don't think I've been stung by a honeybee in like 30 years. Wasps and yellow jackets, they just sting because they are assholes.

I personally love dandelions and even more when you see the little bees approaching the dandelions, it looks so natural and beautiful, I love that these photographs reflect that moment.

I understand that dandelions take to poor soil. What happens sometimes is that the deep tap roots of dandelions will pull nutrients from deep in the ground to the surface. This will help the grass flourish and there will be fewer dandelions in the future.

This is probably pretty true. My backyard used to have a lot of dandelions, but now my grass is so green and lush back there.
