Fishing with my dad and nephew

Finally got to go fishing

I've been wanting to go fishing for a while now, but each time I planned on going, something would come up and I wouldn't be able to make it out. I went camping a few weeks ago and was gonna fish while I was camping, but it didn't work out. So when I was down in St George last week, my dad planned a day where my nephew and I could go with him.

My dad hadn't been fishing for 8 years, so he was really excited to get out to the lake and go. As he has gotten older, his health has started to go downhill and he isn't as mobile as he used to be, so getting out like this doesn't happen for him very much.

It is pretty sad when you think about it. I am so scared of being trapped in my body when I am older and I am doing as much as I can to stay healthy so that I don't have to worry about that as I age. Seeing your parents age is a lot harder than people make it out to be.

I am not a great fisherman, so it was cool to learn a few things from my father and nephew while we were fishing. Now that I am retired, I am hoping to get out in nature more like this and enjoy it.

My dad is a pretty good fisherman and he caught a few fish and a crawfish. I did have a pretty large trout on my line, but when I got it to the shore and almost brought it out, the line snapped.

Here is a picture of the crawfish my dad caught. They ended up cutting it up and using it as bait, but didn't catch anything with it.

The two trout he caught were pretty tiny, but they tasted pretty good. My nephew cooked them when we got back to where we were staying. I am not usually someone that enjoys eating fish, but trout isn't too bad with enough butter and seasoning.

I like these pictures of my dad. It is cool seeing him so excited and happy about catching these fish. I saw my father as a kid that day. As we age, we lose that sense of fun and adventure, so it was really cool to see him with so much life while we were out there. It is just sad that he had to wait so long to be able to get out and do what he loves.

My dad has been through a lot in his life. I really hope that he and I get to spend more time together before his time here on earth is up. It was a lot of fun hanging out with him and getting to know him more.
Reading this made me smile.
Spending time with our loved ones is always a beautiful experience and the best thing we could do.
Someday, all we'd have would be memories of them, so why not make the most out of every moment you get today...
Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully I can make more memories with my parents over the next few years.
Your dad and nephew look great, it's so nice to see your dad beaming 😄
Being an adult and watching your parents' age is definitely a surreal experience... You think you already know everything there is to know, yet they still find ways to surprise you. Living through the moments that they were trying to arm you with knowledge...
Thank you for sharing this, and I hope everybody had a great time 😃

We all did have a great time. Hopefully there are more days like this for my dad in his future. He deserves it
We friends also go this way quite often and catch fresh fish and then cook it and eat it, so this experience is also very memorable. Every time spent with family is always remembered.
I am hoping to catch and eat more fish in the future. Hopefully one day I will enjoy the taste of fish.
Take all the chances you can to spend time with your dad. I miss mine everyday and didn't realize how much I would until he was gone.
I am planning on it. He lives about 4 hours a way so that makes it more difficult. I know we dont have a lot of time left together.
This post has touched my soul. Thank you for spending time with your dad. Make the most of it, enjoy his company and learn from him. It's a little sad to see them grow old, but losing them is an indescribable feeling, even though I've already experienced it. Your photographs are very beautiful. It seems that a simple day has been captured in these images for eternity 🙏

Sorry to hear that you have lost your father. I cant even imagine how that must feel. Hopefully we have more time together before it is either of our time.
Wow beautiful. Always a nice way to bond
Thank you
Welcome
Greetings , @derangedvisions and your team
You wrote a very good post and you are writing very good and beautiful posts and this community is doing a lot better. I want to create a website for this community. I want to create a website for this community where all the rules of this community and also the contest show will be there. I want to create a very beautiful website that will further define this community.
I think it's not right to mention someone like this, but I wanted to ask you how a website should be made and what it should contain. And if you feel like mentioning me like this and wasting your time, then I apologize for that.
I will create a website for this community that will be very beautiful and will give a good reputation to this website. And I will create the website only for my educational purposes. There is no demand for it. I will create the website for free of course.
Please tell me the kind of website you want in the reply to this comment. I will wait for your reply and I hope that you will give a good reply and I will be successful in creating the website you requested on my behalf.
And if you're not interested in that, that's fine, I don't want to waste your time. If you're reading this comment, thank you.
Not sure what kind of a website you would create for the community. I dont really think another type of website is needed since we have peakd and hive.blog that work just fine for accessing the community.
Okay Thanks for your time.
Beautiful photos with emotional text. The elders are the light and illumination of family gatherings, and their presence brings goodness and blessings. God willing, may your father always be healthy, and may we and you grow old in ultimate health without decline and fatigue.
Fishing has its own pleasure. From children to the elderly and young, everyone loves the feeling of catching.
Thank you. I agree, fishing can bring so much peace and happiness to people. IT is a great way to spend the day.
Moments like these stay forever in our memory! Dad's looking happy and had a great time!
Everyone's time on earth is limited, so let's not think about what can happen too much! That's my approach!
Im glad that he had such a good time. I just wish that I could do this with him more often.
Wow! The shots are splendid and capture the beauty of the moment. Those anecdotes that remain are so valuable forever.
Thank you. I am grateful to have been able to spend time with my dad and get these photos.
So true man. When I look at my parents health I do everything I can to live better. So I do not go down some of the dark roads they did with poor health.
Glad you got to do some fishing with your dad.
Thanks man. I am glad that we got this time together as well. It sucks viewing your parent's health as a "what not to do in life" type of thing. Our parents generation were lied to by big pharma and it ruined their lives. Glad that I am not following those footsteps.
Yeah man I know what you mean. My mom drank and smoked cigarettes way too much. She got nerve damage from it and major muscle loss. Reminders of the wrong way to live. In the end she could not even walk around.
What know what you mean about pharma drugs and treatments too. Luckily that was not much of an issue with my direct family but I know of many that it is.
Nice to read from you, and nice to see you taking some time for your dad. I'm trying to do the same with mine, even if he lives 1000 km away from us.
