Day 12 of my Grandaddy Purple seedling

They grow up so fast

It has been 12 days since this little lady emerged from the soil and began her journey. She has two full sets of leaves now and is really going to start growing faster over this next week.

The makeshift greenhouse has been working perfectly for her. I think by Friday, she will be too big to continue using the greenhouse, so I will be removing it so that her leaves don't catch on the sides as I put it back over her. Seedlings love a high humidity environment, so I have been removing the bottle and misting the insides of it a couple times a day to keep the humidity levels up.

She seems to be doing great so far. She has a nice long and sturdy stalk that will just continue to thicken up as she gets larger and puts on more weight. Next week, I will being to introduce some airflow across her leaves to strengthen her up a bit.

I haven't really had to add much water to her little pot over the last 12 days because the little greenhouse has kept things moist. I am pretty optimistic with this new soil and I think that once I get her into the 10 gallon pot, she is going to get pretty massive. I am just hoping that she has begun to get a nice thick root system under the soil.

So much happens under the soil during the first few weeks of a seedlings life. Having a good root system is crucial to the health of your cannabis plants. You can think of the roots like the circulatory system of your body. The roots seek out all the nutrients to feed your plant, but at same time, it creates a sturdy foundation for your plant to hold up all the weight of those thick buds that you are aiming for late in harvest.

It's pretty crazy that this skinny little thing will soon become a massive plant with close to a 16 square foot canopy. I have some really high hopes for this grow and I really hope that she does as well as I think she can.

The next few weeks are going to be very important to ensure she has success in her later weeks. I have a new vegetative nutrient that I am going to try along with the kelp nutrient that I have used in the past. This soil is not a living soil like I have used in the past few grows, so she will need some nutrients during veg. For flower, she will be getting the same mixture of flowering nutrients I have been using in the past that I have had a lot of success with.
One thing I am really looking forward to with this grow is that it is the only plant in the tent, so I don't have to worry about differing canopy heights. I think that was part of the reason why my Purple Haze didn't do as great as the other plants because it was below the white widow and it didn't get as much light.
Growing cannabis is a lot of fun and super rewarding and it is nice to learn new things with each grow so that the next grows turn out even better.
looks good!
Thanks man. Big things are coming with this one.
It is obvious that their growth is very fast
If it can be like this in twelve days, I wonder how it will look in a month
It's gonna be a beast
Looks like a strong healthy seedling bro.
I really like the results you achieved with utilizing a bottle for a makeshift humidity dome. It's great when we can utilize simple things to enhance our grows.
Can't wait to see it take off.
I'm surprised it has worked so well. Definitely gonna use it on more grows.
Hopefully this one does better than the last GDP. If so that would be pretty epic!
I have a feeling this is gonna be a great grow.
It looks healthy and for sure would grow well once transferred.
More to 🪴.
I myself am very fond of doing such things, it helps that one stays busy. Glad to see your plants growth is very good and fast.
