Five years ago, I had the privilege to travel with some photographers and artist at Utah Valley University. Our goal was to spend a month traveling from the souther states in the US to Washington DC. We were creating a book about the history of slavery and racism in the United States.

It was one of the coolest experiences I had while I was in college. It took us almost a complete year to finish the book. I don't even know how many people worked on the book, but it was probably close to 50 people, from artists, designers, writers and photographers.

My daughter is going to be starting school in the next few months and she is going to be studying photography as well. I had so many cool opportunities while I was in college and I can't wait to see what she does when she goes on these trips. I am hoping that they still do oversees trips as well because my daughter would love to go travel with other photographers and take pictures in all those cool locations.

It is pretty cool to go through all my old photos and edit some of them that I never used. One thing I loved about the South was the trees. There were so many cool oak trees with moss dripping off of them. It really added to the eerie feeling that was on the old plantations.

I wonder how old those threes are because they are so big. Those houses have similar designs.

Some of those trees are a few hundred years old. There are a few really famous old oak trees down in that area. The smaller houses all look similar because those used to be the slave houses on the plantation. They are a couple hundred years old.

Wow! Really those houses are so old. Quality of houses before are so different from today's.

Everyday I contemplate on selling my phone, getting a professional camera and taking photography serious. But there’s really not much interesting things worth a camera going on around here so I feel like it’d be a waste.

Lol don’t mind me. I let my intrusive thoughts win just now. Anyways, any chance you could you know..maybe link the book for us here? :)

I wouldn't sell your phone to get a professional camera. You can always learn how to take better photos with your phone and then post to hive and save up for a camera. I am sure there is a lot of interesting stuff going on in your area. Street photography is always cool to see from different parts of the world.

The book that I helped with is here:

Yeah sounds like a plan. I’ll see if I can try instead. Not sure I’ll still want to get a camera after I have the money saved up though. Lol life has a very funny way of making me NEED to use money when I have it. Ooops another intrusive thought passed.

I’ll check the book out. Thanks, man.

What a beautiful place! If only more universities would have such a scenery around them! It actually reminds me of a sequence from Red Dead Redemption 2 haha, but anyway, it's a great spot even just for a simple walk!

These weren't actually near the university at all. This was part of a trip when we visited Louisiana and some of the plantations there.

These trees look really scary. They could even make the cover of a good horror movie. The university is an adventurous place in every way. I hope your daughter has fun and learns a lot there, man!

These plantation grounds are pretty famous and a lot of movies and tv series were actually filmed there.

It is passing so quickly that one does not know if a Friday will pass after that if Friday occurs. The old maps were much more beautiful and strong as we can see this building in the picture. All these pictures looks so beautiful and amazing.
