One for each - photography

(Edited)

It’s been a while since I posted photography. I’ve gotten a very of shots the past few months and I’m doing something uniquely bizarre today.

Today, I’m making a photo collection of shots of different things in one post, hence the title.

Food

I’m reserving the most unique first - a food shot. I’ve never done this before so I figured I’d bring it into the shot first. This is counterintuitive to saving the best for last, but it still works in my opinion.

I took this one like a month ago on an afternoon in the streets of Tamale. It had been a while I saw cheese, so I was excited to dig in. Oh yeahh this is one way we eat cheese around here. We fry it into this red looking beauty. The inside is still soft and white in case you’re wondering. It’s fried the way sausage are. I think that frying method is called par frying?

Night Mode

I almost would’ve said this is the first night photography I’m sharing, and I wouldn’t be entirely wrong if I said that, but I remembered months ago just before I left campus, I did some nature photography where I captured a hedgehog. That was more of a nature photography thing for me than night though so I don’t think it counts.

For this picture, I don’t really remember precisely the circumstances I took it under, but I think I went to buy prepaid that night and I shot this on my way there. It’d just started getting dark and when I saw the color painting of the place, the great lightening and the just turning-dark sky, I thought it’d make the perfect night shot. I wasn’t disappointed. Although my phone takes most of the credit because it does most of the work.

Air Dance

This is street-nature photography. I call it that because it was taken in a market.

I had just come to town to get some groceries and as I was heading back, I saw these guys sitting peacefully on the pole.

I thought of getting closer to get a better shot because I thought this one wouldn’t do, but it came out pretty decent.

Honestly, I wouldn’t have gotten any picture at all if I went closer because the birds around here are scared of people and will only allow you get so close. The fact that these birds are used to the market conditions, noise, people walking by and not harming them, makes them a more calm towards humans than birds not exposed to these conditions.

But even with their being less timid, I got only one picture before they decide to be birds again. Lol. I managed to capture a very nice shot of three of the birds doing different dances in the sky. This is why I referred to these 2 particular pictures as Air Dance.

Millipede

In one of my nature photography collections over the past months, I covered some centipedes as “army of centipedes”. Well, today I have a millipede. Not an army, just one. I like to think of this as the best picture I’ve taken this month.

I hit a quick google images search and found out it was a Polydesmid Millipede. You can read more about that here. I found it fascinating because of the clearly its body segments were divided and covered on the top by these duck-face-looking helmets. Those are called Paranota, a form of tergum, basically. Let me not get into the science of it. Lol

And to end, I leave you with a bit of confusing shot I took on my way back from work 3 weeks ago.

It’s a very special shot I took, but it didn’t exactly turn out as perfect as I hoped it’d be, but it was a spontaneous photo I took, so there was no expectation of perfection.

If you look at the photo well, you’ll have questions about why the photo has that whatever in the top right corner. Photoshop, perharps?

Well…you’ll keep wondering until you flip your phone upside down and you’ll realize that the photo is actually an upside-down image. I used the water on the floor as a mirror to provide the illusion of a real image even when flipped upside down. That thing you see in the top right corner is actually mud on the ground. I’ll show you the real original picture below so you can appreciate what I’m saying better.

These are just some of the photos I’ve taken over the past few weeks since my last photography post. I guess it wasn’t really one of each in all cases as I had two in some cases, but the two still represented one thing so it’s okay. I have a few more still in my gallery that I’m saving up for another edition of this photography album. I lkke to think my eye for photography and my photography itself is improving. I hope you liked these ones and I’ll see you in the next one.

The last photo left me with a "wow". I didn't want to read your interpretation, I wanted to see if I could deduce it myself by looking at the angles you've shot from. That's a pro-level shot man. Legit. I don't have such scenery when I live, plus it's been long I really went out with my iPhone. The bird on the wire picture, is stunning too.

Wahashi is cheese. The first picture. They let milk collected from a cow curd and then add salt and fry it. Delicious!

I haven't eaten that, it's not a popular recipe in Nigeria. The picture is colorful I must say

Wow, maybe your phone has excellent camera quality but these are really awesome photographs. I can't even say which I like more.
Oh, I know. The picture of fuel station surrounded by the night sky. That one looks straight from a magazine. Really loved it.

These are very clear photos, you've a great camera on your device. The air dance has a nice feel to it. Birds are really hard to capture close up over here too. The last pic is a wonderful phone bending experience, great shot :)
