Friendship, Nature, Weekend.

Hey guys, I hope everyone’s had a great week this week. I normally don’t start my blog off this way, but with things going on with me right now, I know I could use someone at least asking me this.

Let me start this post off by stating that I know that my definition of the words I select probably doesn’t go for everyone, but that’s the point - it’s my writing, so everything I’m saying is from my point of view and based on my experience.

There are a lot of words listed for prompt 2 and normally when I have soo many choices of things to choose from, I get overwhelmed. But the good thing about having soo many options is that you’re not caged up in thought. There’s freedom to explore.

I honestly didn’t realize how difficult it was to define certain things until today. Writing this post, I realized we’re really just living life with no strict definitions of what is and what isn’t. Proof of that is how many times I’ve had to erase what I wrote and start all over again with a different word because what I was saying wasn’t making sense to even me.

I’m probably not going to make much sense in this post, but the 3 words I’m selecting out of the many given words by @galenkp are friendship, nature and weekend

Friendship

Friendship is a valuable social need to us humans because we’re social animals and we need social support to belong and thrive.

For me, friendship is what gives someone the friend label in my eyes.

There’s this person that calls their classmates their friends and I keep correcting them every time that they’re not their friends. I realized just recently that maybe I’m wrong. Maybe friendship means something different to me, but just because we don’t feel the same way about what makes someone a friend doesn’t nullify their definition either.

To me though, taking classes with someone doesn’t grant them the friend label. I need to connect on a deeper level with you to call you a friend or say that we have a friendship.

The funny thing is that maybe there are probably people I consider friends because they’ve ticked my boxes, but they don’t consider me a friend because I haven’t ticked theirs. Human relationships like friendships are assessed on a relative basis, so it’s a normal thing.

I’ve attended school with a lot of people from when I was a kid until now and am not friends with them.

My friends literally feel like a second family to me. I know how corny that must sound, but that’s really it.

My friends come to my aid no questions asked when I need it and I do the same for them. We ride hard for each other.

But if you ask me who my best friend is, I tell you all my friends are my best friends and I mean it. I don’t become friends with anyone just because, so I don’t have many friends. I mean, sure I know a lot of people and have many acquaintances, but not all of my acquaintances are friends.

Friendship is forged on a lot of things for me. May be how long we’ve known each other, or how many times you’ve come through for me in my times of need, or even shared goals or interests. But if I’m friends with you, you earned it.

Weekend

If you asked me years ago what the weekend meant to me, I’d say only these phrases : TingaTinga, Gomiti, and Ben10. And that’s understandable because I was a kid and the only things I looked forward to during the weekend were these shows.

Now, the weekend means: rest, no work, recharge, movies, trip. I’m doing my national service right now and I dread Sundays now more than I used to because Sundays mean I have class to go to the following day and so I have to start preparing for the week.

Back then, my weekend used to start officially on Saturdays, because I could spend both Saturday and Sunday doing nothing. But now, my weekend starts Friday night and ends somewhere around Sunday afternoon because by evening on Sunday, I’m already preparing for the coming week, so you might as well call the week started.

Nature

Anybody that knows me knows that I love nature. Both being in it and of course, taking pictures of it. It just makes everything better.

It’s the one reason why I want to travel so much. So that I can be more exposed to it. I have this friend that’s obsessed with the aurora’s of Norway and posts it on her status all the time. I’m sure it pisses many people off that she posts about it almost everyday on her status, but I secretly admire them too.

I love seeing and taking pictures of birds mid air, watching dark-blue clouds form just before it rains, the smell of soil just after it rains, catchy flower patterns in the okra plant flower, watching dung beetles roll their thing, the designs car tyres leave on fresh soil after rain, even centipedes marching in armies just after it’s rained. I’m obsessed with nature!

I agree with you 💯 friendship is not for everyone. We can surround ourselves with many person and still it is not enough. Friendships are in good and bad, and I'm so glad you have close and trusted friends ☺️. I was very pleased to see the nature. 💟 Greetings

The two pictures are actually not from the same weekend. They’re taken from weekends like 4 months apart!
