Hey guys, I’m going to take you on a ride doing a bit of exploring as I checked out some places just last Friday for a meetup we’ll be having soon. I didn’t really detail the places out though so it’s going to be really surface explorations.

I was supposed to have made this post on Friday because that was when the content of this post happened, but there was too much going on I couldn’t for it into the day.

Yesterday being Saturday also, I spent the available part of my day thinking and planning the Neoxian Weekend Games! If you haven’t checked that out yet, you should, and please join us play this weekend.

Okay so like I already said, I had a lot going on Friday so I didn’t go on my search early enough. I headed out somewhere around 5pm when it started getting dark already. But I couldn’t leave it for the following day because I had already promised @mcsamm I’d do it today.

Luxury Ice cream Spot

This was the first place I went because a group of my friends have used it before and they recommended it to me.

Tbh, I was a little disappointed when I got there because the place looked really disorganized. But when I went closer I realized that was because the place was under renovation.

This was what the outside looked like. It’s just next to the road and has a kind of a road side view. But because the outside but is not roofed, the roadside spot won’t be much use during the day. So I suppose it’s use is mainly for night?

I had a look around and asked for their menu to be able to get a feel of what we could during the occasion. The sitting area looked okay. You can have up to 4 people at a table.

But from this angle, you don’t really see well because the lightning is not too great. You can see better how spacious the place is and some other stuff in the picture below. I liked what they did with the pillar there. They wound a wire around it and packed it with pebbles to give it a very aesthetic look.

Out of curiosity, I asked whether or not everything on the menu is pre-available in quantities large enough to host an announced occasion. I was told they make food in small quantities, and only make large quantities on orders. So if we wanted to have a certain food on the menu, we would have to preorder for it to be made ahead of the occasion.

Oasis Lounge And Bar

This place, I actually was here last year-ish with my friends. It was a really fun hang out with @zzzinnn and gunu1 and two other friends who are not on Hive right now.

Anyways, what I love about Oasis is for one, the fact that they have a very broad menu to select from. Not that it helps me much because what I eat where ever I go is Rice. Lol. When we went there last year, we contemplated on whether we should eat exotic stuff of just stick to the native. We ended up sticking to the native because how do I manage to use a chopstick or worse if we choose something like Chinese noodles?

Another thing I like about Oasis is that the place is nice and has a lot of locations where you can sit and attend to your business. I know of about 4 different great spots to sit in there but I can only show you one because they had a customer privacy protection policy which prevented me from taking pictures since the other spots were full of people. It sucked I couldn’t take those pictures, but it made me realize how important they consider their customers.

I did get a quick peek of the menu though(you can tell I was in a hurry by the kind of blurry images). But there was issues with even that as they complained that releasing their menu to people to take pictures of hasn’t worked out great for them in the past. According to them, people come around “with the same story I was telling them”(that they’ll be having a meetup or occasion there and need to see the menu to plan ahead). But when they showed them the menu, they don’t come and instead, those people release their menu and prices to other restaurants around.

This made no sense to me. Oasis is a pretty popular place and their menu is available online. I wouldn’t even have asked for the menu if it wasn’t for the fact that I just wanted my own pictures of it. I literally can pull it up on my phone, so I think if other restaurants wanted their menu, it’d be pretty accessible and they wouldn’t have to send “minions” to go through the trouble of coming there to get it. Lol.

Wooden

Wooden for me is like that one plays everyone around you has been to, but for some reason you just haven’t and aren’t bothered to check out. I’ve seen a lot of people I know post many pictures whiles they are there but it’s never crossed my mind to check it out myself.

And it’s not even that I don’t pass around there, I just stare at their bill board and pass every time I ride around there. Took exploring venues to get me to finally make the check in (if you’ll call it that) lol.

So at the entrance, the gate is nothing fancy. Pretty normal. Basic even, if you like. Because the place is hyped to be popular so it’s a bit disappointing to see that the entrance is that basic. You’d expect some sophisticatedly nice looking entrance. Lol.

Anyways, here’s what you see just upon entry. There’s a very fancy view on the other side of the grass wall here but I can’t show you because it was full of people and I didn’t want to look like the creep taking pictures of people in an open space. The walkway close the grass wall leads into a a kind of bar sitting space I’ll show you in a bit.

I managed to get a menu for Wooden, but I doubt this is all they have. They look too big and famous for it to be.

Now here’s the area I was telling you the walkway leads into. It’s a nice open space spot and there’s a very beautiful view where the lady is walking towards. I didn’t take many pictures here though.

Modern City Hotel

Another place my boys and I went last year. We actually went to Oasis after we left Modern City. It’s a nice place too, but we didn’t come here for a meetup of the sort that this one is. We came solely to have fun and enjoy ourselves.

Anyways, this is what the entrance front looks like. Pretty okay look. But what you see here in this picture is only like a sixth of what the entire hotel looks like!

I went into to see the receptionist because I wanted to inquire about their conference room. Today was when I found out the difference between meetups and business meetings.😂

My discovery was funny in a shocking way. I was told the conference room package for people who won’t be staying the night in the hotel was GHC205 ($20) per head, and they don’t accept less than 20 people! So in gross, we’d be clocking a total cost of not less than GHC4,100($403). I made give me a print out just to be sure that she wasn’t trying to rip me off. And I shit you not, she wasn’t. Take a look. Oh and I should also mention that their package details also included that if you were less than the 20 minimum, you’d be charged an extra GHC2,000 ($196). So even if we 19, we’d be charged an extra 2k just for the one missing person. Yeah fucking right. Wouldn’t it just be smarter to take 205 out of the supposed 2k we’ll be charged to pay for one person and still keep enough balance to be called rich men?😂

As I sat and waited for her to get me the print out, I saw this what looked like a waiting room at the receptionist. Don’t be deceived by the lightning in the picture. It was already getting dark at this time but my phone’s night mode said “let there be light”.

After I was shown the package and everything, it entails(which is shown in the picture from earlier), she took me to the conference room and I’ve never been so disappointed on my life before. Wth. This is what we’re paying a minimum of $403 for? Please. Be for real. She saw the disappointment in my face before I even told her I was disappointed and she tried to remedy that by telling me there was another conference room and that this one hadn’t been used in a long time. I do believe there’s another one because if you zoom in on the picture below, you can see one conference room with a kind of a round table. My question though is, if there’s another conference room, why aren’t you showing me that one then?

At this point, I couldn’t wait to be out of there. It’s not like I had any plans of us paying that amount, but I was already too deep into the tour to check out of. So I gave it a little patience and made my way out, not considering coming back regarding the use of their conference hall ever again.
