Yes, All the Photos Are My Own!
For as long as I have been publishing content online — which is getting close to 25 years — I have always been using my own images.
Along the way, I have received all sorts of "helpful" advice to the effect that I should be using art that's "relevant" to my content, hereunder stock photography of assorted and sundry kinds.
I have listened politely, and steadfastly continued to use my own images... which seldom bears much direct relation to my content.
First off, I do not use my own images because I am trying to "show off" nor because I am trying to "market" my photography.
In fact, I'm not even "a photographer," I am more like "a guy with a camera."
It's also generally true that I don't write very much technical or scholarly content, so the need forth scientific and financial images are pretty close to zero.
My primary use of images is simply to break up the whole "wall of text" syndrome, and to offer people pleasant "interludes" to reast their eyes upon, at some sort of natural "separation point" between ideas or concepts.
It's really not much more complicated than that.
I like to use my own images because I like the way they look in my posts, and I have tens of thousands of them here on my local drive.
The vast majority of the content I create are more or less directly related to life and the human experience, and often also to my own personal experience.
My images are actually a significant part of that experience, so perhaps they are really more relevant to the content" than most people initially think.
Besides, I think showing photos of people in seemingly "deep conversation" every time I write a reflective post is a bit limiting... and becomes a "song of one note" very quickly.
In truth, one my primary reasons for using my own photos has to do with copyrights and proper crediting.
When I use my own photos I never have to worry about ownership or stepping on anyone's toes as a result of using their work without proper attribution. I just insert and image and go. end of story.
And so I can rest in peace, with the absolute knowledge that "yes, all the photos are my own!"
Perhaps it's not such a big deal, in the greater scheme of things. But some photographers get very nitpicky about their work...
Sure I know there are "free use" photography sites out there, but it's honestly much easier to just use my own.
I realize my peculiar approach is not for everyone... but "if it ain't broke, why fix it?"
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Friday!

Those are beautiful shots , which camera device did you use ??
I have a 10-year old Fuji finepix that's sadly on its last legs... after probably close to 100K images.
That is really great.
I am always happy when I write posts that I've got my personal image to use in.. it really gives me great joy.
Your photography skill is quite impressive for someone who's just the guy with camera...
Awesome Photos keep doing you!
I'm a Sloth with a camera, so much so I forget to get it out half the time to take photos! Have been pushing myself to try to take more with my iPhone recently, pretty neat camera on it, definitely beats using stock images or MEMES, as easy as they are to create!
Thanks for sharing, I look forward to catching some of the next 25 years' worth of photos!
Its always good to make use of ones pictures as it adds more uniqueness to ones blog in general. Ive been using the free ones in my posts for a while now but they are so abstract and lose the human touch(in most cases). Thats why I now try to take them myself even if they sometimes dont correlate with the concept of the blog, at least they are mine.
You take great pictures. Im surprised youre not a professional photographer and that motivates me even more.
I too use my own images which ofttimes do not relate to the content. I'm useless with a camera but I prefer
my own mediocre images to stock images.
I like your pictures. Good job for a simple guy with a camera!

I like that style. Never thought of it that way for "what's going on in life" posts.
Pretty good idea. Keep going.
