Всім читачам доброго вечора. Як і обіцяв, прогулянка по диким степам України. Сьогодні у мене є що показати, ось, погляньте. Вночі коли всі сплять, на полювання у степах України (і не тільки) виходять ось такі дивовижні тваринки. Якби ви чули як вони сопуть і пирхають, а ще гупотять лапами. Їжаки дуже швидко бігають не дивлячись на свою незграбність.

Милі на вигляд тваринки, але насправді не такі вже й невинні. Мабуть ні для кого не секрет, що їжак взимку спить, а восени багато їсть, щоб була добра вага та запас енергії для сну. Інакше іжак з масою тіла до пів кілограма може просто загинути уві сні так і не прокинувшись. Вони не риють нірку, не готують кубло чи гніздечко. Їжаки ховаються взимку в порожнинах під каміннями, або під коренями дерев. Буває і таке, що їжаки засинають на місті так і не знайшовши собі притулок. Це стається коли на вулиці мінус шість градусів, тварина може заснути мимоволі. Але нажаль при таких обставинах тваринка не рідко погибає, вони дуже реагують на холод.

Носики у їжачків як і у котів завжди вологі, звісно, якщо тварина здорова. Вони мають нюх, такий якому багато хто позаздрить, завдяки нюху їжаки гостро чують про небезпеку. Зір поганий, проте це компенсується гарним слухом. Вони не їдять яблука, і ті картинки у дитячих книжках, де їжаки несуть на своїх колючках яблучко, то лише казки. Ще їжаки дуже полюбляють запах кави та сигарет, уявляєте?

Їдять їжаки переважно щурів, мишей, гадюк, черв'яків, саме тому вони вважаються хижаками. Навіть якщо гадюка отруйна, це на їжаків не діє, до того ж полювання на гадюку то для їжака звична справа. Але якщо їжаку немає як упіймати здобич, він буде шукати ягоди, гриби. А чи є у їжаків вороги у природі? Звісно що є! Це лисиці. Лисиця як тільки баче їжака одразу почитає його роздивлятися, та їжак скручується у кулю, стає з усіх боків колючим. Що робить лисиця, вона просто котить їжака як колобка у водойму. Оскільки їжак не вміє плавати він розпрямляється і стає добичу води або лисиці. Сумно, але ж це життя.

Не бажано брати їжаків на руки, бо у цих тварин дуже багато клопів. Тому їжаки вважаються переносниками хвороб. Клопів не видно візуально, бо вони ховаються в голках. Краще не чіпати тварину, помилувалися і досить.

Мені вдалося сфотографувати цього капловухого хижака, та він непогано позував на камеру телефону. А потім їжак пішов далі по своїм справам. До речі, якщо ви побачите на своєму подвір'ї їжачка, знайте, молока їм давати не можна, бо від нього у тваринок буде пронос. Ну, і щоб вже не лише про їжака, трохи польових квітів...

Hedgehogs run very fast despite their clumsiness.

Cute looking animals, but actually not so innocent. It is probably not a secret for anyone that a hedgehog sleeps in winter and eats a lot in autumn in order to have a good weight and energy reserves for sleep. Otherwise, a hedgehog with a body weight of up to half a kilogram can simply die in a dream without waking up. They do not dig a burrow, do not prepare a nest or a nest. Hedgehogs hide in winter in cavities under stones or under tree roots. It also happens that hedgehogs fall asleep in the city without finding shelter. This happens when it is minus six degrees outside, the animal can fall asleep involuntarily. But unfortunately, under such circumstances, the animal often dies, they are very responsive to the cold.

The noses of hedgehogs and cats are always wet, of course, if the animal is healthy. They have a sense of smell that many would envy, thanks to their sense of smell, hedgehogs are keenly aware of danger. Eyesight is poor, but it is compensated by good hearing. They don't eat apples, and those pictures in children's books where hedgehogs carry an apple on their spines are just fairy tales. Hedgehogs also really like the smell of coffee and cigarettes, can you imagine?

Hedgehogs mainly eat rats, mice, vipers, and worms, which is why they are considered predators. Even if the viper is poisonous, it does not affect hedgehogs, besides, hunting a viper is a common thing for a hedgehog. But if the hedgehog has no way to catch prey, he will look for berries and mushrooms. And do hedgehogs have enemies in nature? Of course there is! These are foxes. As soon as the fox sees the hedgehog, it immediately begins to look at him, and the hedgehog curls up into a ball, becomes prickly from all sides. What does the fox do, it just rolls the hedgehog like a dumpling into the pond. Since the hedgehog does not know how to swim, it becomes crumpled and becomes the prey of the water or the fox. It's sad, but that's life.

It is not advisable to take hedgehogs in your hands, because these animals have a lot of bugs. Therefore, hedgehogs are considered carriers of diseases. Bugs are not visible visually, because they hide in the needles. It is better not to touch the animal, admire and that's enough.

I managed to take a picture of this drop-eared predator, and he posed well for the phone camera. And then the hedgehog went about his business. By the way, if you see a hedgehog in your yard, know that you cannot give them milk, because it will cause diarrhea in the animals.
