Together Once Again After 26 Years: High School Reunion at Lagkaw Beach Resort

High School Life is truly one of the most challenging, fun, and exciting journeys in our lives. It's full of unforgettable memories shared with our high school friends. So, now that we have our own family, sometimes it's good to recall our high school friendships and track our classmates and batchmates and say hello, to them. One way of recalling the memories shared and recognizing our friendship is by having a reunion.

My dear hive friends, today I would like to share with you our high school reunion last Nov. 3, 2023. It was simple and not well-planned because of being busy with the SK and Barangay Election. Besides before the scheduled date, there was already a high school homecoming activity last October 21, 2023. However, some of my classmates and batchmates did not attend because it was not announced earlier. They haven't prepared especially in filing a work leave so that they can attend the homecoming which was organized by our High School Alma Mater. This is the reason why we decided to have our gatherings at Lagkaw. Aside from that, many of my classmates from other provinces were going home. Even if it was not so properly planned and simple yet, it was very memorable and meaningful to all of us who participated in the event.

About The Venue

Lagkaw is located at Poblacion San Remigio, Cebu beside Lingay Beach. If you were from the City, you would turn right from the highway and turn left traversing the non-cemented road. From the barangay road of Poblacion, it is about more or less 500 meters away and Lagkaw is located.

The Views

Lagkaw Beach is the perfect place for fun and relaxation. It was surrounded by tall trees, bushes, and shrubs so it's cool and very refreshing. It's spacious, clean, and safe to stay even overnight. There were cottages which were made of bamboo. It was built securely to ensure the safety of the guests. The long shoreline and clean seawater of the beach were so inviting wherein every beachgoer loved to dive in.

The Reunion

On the day of our reunion, only 40 of my batchmates and classmates were present or attended. As agreed in our group chat, we brought food to share. Some sponsored beer and soft drinks while others brought rice, fish, pork, and shells. We also brought bread, spaghetti, and cakes. To enjoy it completely we rented video K for those who loved singing and even dancing. We enjoyed much with our gatherings very much. Thankful for the time shared of togetherness after 26 years from high school graduation. It was very successful and memorable since some of my classmates were coming from other countries and provinces.

It was only a short time of being together but the camaraderie and the friendship that binds us is more valuable than the money spent on their travel and the expenses of our gatherings. Were very much happy seeing them in different walks of life and having our own family. As one of my classmates said; for many years of existence on this earth, he learned that when the Lord calls him home, we will go, no matter what the struggle is, no one can stop it. We have one life to live. The material things we invest in are left behind. Memories, therefore, are important. So, why not create memories while we are still enjoying our life?
