Purposeful Walk at DPWH Region 7 First Engineering District

Hello everyone! How are you? It's a holiday here in the Philippines and I'm sure we're going to be busy again with our household chores or else others are having their bonding moments with family and friends. Well, whatever it is, I hope you guys will make your holiday worthwhile and productive.

My dear hive friends, for today, I will share our quick visit to one of the most valuable offices or agencies in the government. This office is the DPWH office Region 7 First Engineering District in Medellin, Cebu last Wednesday afternoon together with my colleagues. We went there since we had a very important appointment with the Assistant District Engr. as our Alumni president S.Y. 2023-2024. We invited her for the orientation and creation of the school SGC or School Governance Council as the umbrella of all organizations and as the framework of schools in the implementation of school policies, programs, and projects. It is the shared governance and feedback mechanism of the school's implementation of plans, programs, and projects.

What is DPWH

DPWH is an agency tasked with planning designing constructing and maintenance of public works and highways, roads, bridges water systems, and other developments in the national highway. This is one of the important agencies. With DPWH our national highways are maintained and improved from having 2 lanes now in 4 lanes. If not with this agency our government will find difficulty in implementing plans and projects on our roads and other infrastructures.

My Visit

That was my first time visiting the place and I found it amazing and felt comfortable since the place and the office is quite safe and clean. Since it's away from the main town it's less polluted and peaceful. Within the vicinity of the office, there's a chapel where personnel may have time to pray even after work. It is well landscaped and the spirit of Christmas was still present with the presence of a tall Christmas Tree decorated artistically. When we enter inside you have to logbook first to track visitors. Then we went to the office of the Assistant Engr. Her secretary accommodated us politely and generously thus, we felt very comfortable with our visit. Still, we log in so that we can have our certificate of appearance in traveling. When we were inside, we sat on the sofa and felt cool while waiting to be entertained. The secretary of the ADE served as coffee and bread. We enjoyed drinking coffee while presenting our main agenda to her. It's good that our Alumni president entertained us despite being busy. I know how kind and generous she is. After successfully presenting our agenda, we went to other offices to follow up on some of the documents requested from them. It's good that we visited there for we found time to follow up on our lot survey results conducted by DPWH personnel.

Reflection

While looking at the engineers in the office, I realized how boring their worked for me. Even if they were very busy for the whole duration of the day they just set and did computer work. Unlike us the teacher whose work is varied and meets a lot of learners with different attitudes and behaviors therefore, it's not boring for me. But then I salute them for without them our national highways and other infrastructures will not be realized.
