Homemade Zobo Drink(Dried Roselle)

Zobo drink is regular and Familiar beverage loved by Nigerians, I personally love this drink, back then in secondary school i used to buy this drink and snacks almost every day because of how chilled and sweet it always taste.
So yesterday, My sister in law bought a very big ripe pineapple and i thought to my self that i could try out some zobo recipe from it, as it was one of the main ingredients in making this drink. Well i have never tried it out before, this was my first time and i think i made a little mistake but all thesame lets dive right in.

INGREDIENTS

• zobo leaves (dried roselle or sorrel)
• pineapple
• garlic & ginger
• citrus ( lime or lemon)
• cloves
• natural flavors (optional)

Step 1

Wash and peal your pineapple properly and cut into your desired size, also wash the wash the zobo leafs with water to remove dirt and set aside.

Peal and grate your garlic and ginger and set them aside, then also wash your citrus and slice roundly and also set aside

In a big clean pot, put the zobo leaves, the pineapple peals after washing it to remove dirt, also add the some of the pineapple flesh, the grated ginger and garlic, the limes, adding the limes was where i made the mistakes (the limes were too much) making it a little bit sour, but its tasted good, add some few amount of cloves and a good amount of water, put the pot on the heat and allow to boil for 30-35 minutes .

Step 4

Allow to cool, sieve out the juice into a bowl, you can add natural sweeteners like honey, sugar cane juice or pineapple juice.
After that, you can pour it into cans and refrigerate it

Refrigerate and serve cool, well since I didn’t really like the sour taste and I didn’t have any natural flavors at the moment I decided to add some chunks of the pineapple in it, this made it really nice
