Every business that exists in the world have their unique tools that make their work easy and bring their crafts to life. Whether you are a barber, mason, fashion designer, tech bro/sis or chef, there are must-have tools or equipments that you need in your work space to bring your thoughts and ideas to reality.

Today, I will be sharing with you some of the major tools that I can't go a day without using in my fashion workshop. These tools are like my 5 and 6, my besties that I always interact with in my workshop on a daily basis. Every of the designs that I make for my customers is made possible with the help of these ride-or-die tools. They help me in expressing my creativity to the fullest and showcasing my craft to the world - without them it may be difficult to bring each outfit to life.

So, I would be sharing my top must-have tools that I use on a daily basis in my fashion workshop with you. Let's get started:

1. Sewing machine: This is undoubtedly the lifeblood of a fashion business. It may be impossible to operate as a fashion deisgner without a sewing machine. I make use of both electric industrial sewing machine and manual sewing machine. My first choice is definitely the industrial sewing machine but when there is no power I opt for the manual one.
   

2. Tailoring Scissors: Scissors are also important in any fashion workshop. They are essentially used in cutting fabrics into pieces and panels - which is a major procedure in making any outfit. The fabrics must be cut into the required sizes and patterns before it can be joined together to make a dress.
   
   Also, I ensure to always keep my scissors sharp through regular maintenance to enable it give me the required precision that I desire. I also ensure that I use it to cut strictly fabrics so as to prevent the blades from getting blunt or damaged.

3. Measuring tape: A fashion designer that is not with his or her measuring tape is not worthy to be called a fashion designer. It is a simple but important tool in the fashion business. As you all know that different people have different body types and sizes, hence, a measuring tape is required to get the accurate measurements thereby making it easy for a fashion designer to make a well-fitting outfit.
   

4. Iron: Over the years I have understood that giving your dress a good press while sewing will give it a professional look as opposed to someone who doesn't. So, an iron is also important in a fashion shop as it is used to give your work a good finishing. There are some fabrics that you need to use an iron to flatten the seams and hems to get a neat look.
   
   When I don't have power I opt for my other alternative - it is an abandoned iron that I changed the handle and I have to place it on heat from a gas burner before using it to carefully press my fabrics.

5. Tailoring chalk: I use my tailoring chalk to mark measurements on fabrics as it creates lines that are temporary on the fabrics. The chalks come in different colors, so the color you use may depend on the color of the fabric so as to to ensure visibility on the fabric.
   

6. Threads and Needles: I have an array of different colors of threads in my fashion shop so that I can use a matching thread with a fabric. I also have packets of machine needles as well. You know how needles can disappoint (break) during sewing especially when you are sewing thick fabrics or fabrics that have stones or beads.
   

These are some of the major tools that make my work easy on a daily basis and I'm sure most, if not all of them will make the list of most fashion deisgners (You can share yours with me in the comments).
