DIY HOME WEED CONTROL: HOW WE USED HERBICIDE TO TACKLE RAPID WEED GROWTH DURING THE RAINY SEASON
Hey lovelies β€οΈ
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese π
Welcome to my blog π€
In this post I will be sharing with you how my husband and I used herbicide to spray the fast growing grass in the front of our house. There is something about how quick grasses and plants grow during the rainy season, no wonder farmers love this season so much. But, not all of us fancy the effects of rain especially when it comes to it's effects of weeds around our houses. One minute you have a clean compound and the next minute your compound is full with weeds growing so fas.
Just a few weeks back, my husband hired someone to help us clear the weeds in the front of our house using a cutlass, but within a couple of weeks the grasses have grown again. All thanks to the constant rain that we have been experiencing in recent times. So, in a bid to find a solution that will last longer we decided to opt for a different and more effective method. This method have to do with using herbicide to get rid of weeds. We opted for a brand of herbicide called FORCE UP and reports from the vendors have it that the chemical is very powerful and effective.
Force up is said to contain Glyphosate which contains a chemical that works by stopping the plant from producing amino acids that is needed to help the plant grow and afterwards it dies from the root. A bottle of the Force Up herbicide costs about #3000 and the seller told us we would start seeing results in about 7 days when the grass we will begin to gradually dry off. This is different from the one my father use in his farm when we were much younger. You'd see the result in less than 30 minutes after spraying.
The spraying task was carried out by my husband and I was around to chat with him and offer some moral support and of course take some pictures. To begin, he mixed about 200ml of the chemical into a bucket of water and stirred it throughly. The sprayer we used isn't the common easy to use one that has a backpack that is commonly used by farmers.
This one is just a nozzle that you can place inside a bucket, then you pump continously with your hand for the water to come out. It is not an easy tool to use but it got the job done even though it took more time. We actually borrowed it from one of our neighbors.
While we were spraying, it began to rain lightly and I was a bit worried aflt first that the rain will wash away all the chemicals and all the work we have been doing will be a waste. But my husband explained to me that the rainbis more of a blessing to the process. He said the rain will help to move the herbicide to the root of the weeds which will make it easy for the weeds to die from the roots.
So, we are patiently waiting for the weeds to wither off in seven days time or less. With this process successfully completed we are sure of enjoying a clean front area in our house for some time before we repeat the process again.
Thanks for reading and see you in my next one.
