In this post I will be sharing with you some of the outfits I have made in the past couple of weeks. I was looking through my pictures and I realised that I have some outfits that I have to share with you.

So, in this post, instead of just posting the pictures and saying "look at these lovely outfits", I would like to share some brief behind the scenes story of each of them with you. Some of the outfits were made for my ready to wear collection and the others were made for customers based on their requests. It is interesting to know that there is always a story behind every stitch.

So, let's begin...

The first is a beautiful wine/burgundy two-piece set. This is one that is made with my girlies in mind. It is a classy and beautiful two-piece. One interesting thing about the outfit is that it can be styled in two different ways.

It can be worn as it is if you're cool with showing some skin or you can choose to pair it with a plain top underneath the 'top of the two-piece' if you want some coverage. And to be sincere, the two styling are absolutely beautiful.

I made the outfit using adire crepe and I really loved the results. It is one of those outfits that you can rock and feel elegant with doing too much.

The second outfit is still from the ready-to-wear collection and it was made with ankara fabrics. It is a free, comfy and easy to syle trousers. The trousers gives you freedom on how to style it because it doesn't come with a top. So, it can be paired with as many matching color of tops in your wardrobe. I added elastic at the waist and rope for adjustment so that it can be as comfortable as possible.

I made about 10 pieces in two different prints and they were sold out in no time. I was happy with the quick sales not just because of the fact that I made money but because people loved and were satisfied with it.

The next one is a kimono set made from Ankara fabrics. The set is made up of an oversized jacket and a pair of palazzo trousers. The set gives a comfy but stylish look that can be worn for several hours without feeling uncomfortable. The kimono can be worn on a crop top or a regular length top preferably black or white color. That's one of the things I fancy about the style you don't need to stress too much about how to style it.

The ankara kimono set is quite trendy in Nigeria and I perfectly understand why. Who does want to wear something comfortable yet elegant? I had to keep one for myself as well. I love outfits that are easy to rock.

There is no doubt that I enjoy creating my ready-to-wear pieces but there is something more fulfilling about making an outfit based on customer's order and not only that but they also love the outfit.

Let's move away from the ready-to-wear collection and move to customer's orders. So, this elegant red dress was made for one of my customer's daughter who wanted something special to wear to her final year dinner at the University.

She came with her reference picture of the style she wanted and we took a close look at it together with her mother and discussed about the little changes we would make to the original design. I advised her that if we create the dress exactly how it is in the reference it will not be fine on her body type, so with little alterations here and there we can achieve something beautiful.

Among other things we discussed how many yards of fabrics we will using and the duration for completion and of course the cost of making the dress. We used a thick crepe fabrics. It took about a week of switching between the dress and other works to complete it. It was quite time consuming especially because of the volume of the skirt. It takes patience to get that fullness right but it is worth when I finished the dress. I'm pretty sure she created memorable memories with the outfit.

The next and last outfit for this post is an ankara maxi gown I made for a first time customer. She needed an outfit to wear to church. The body of the gown is made from navy and teal blue Ankara fabric while the neck and sleeve was made with chantilly lace. The bodice has a sweetheart shape across the chest and the lace continues into a fitted three quarter sleeves.

The customer loved her outfit and came back again after that which is a thing of joy for me as a fashion designer.
