A SHORT FAMILY TRIP AND HELPING MUM WITH HER BROILER CHICKEN BUSINESS
Hey lovelies β€οΈ
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese π
Welcome to my blog π€
Yesterday, I decided to utilise the Sallah break to visit my parents since the break still continue today, Monday. This kind of holidays offer to us the much-needed and necessary pause away from our usual routine. Some of us wouldn't take a break or think about checking up on our loved ones if we don't have these types of holidays in the year. It has been a while I lasted visited and I feel like it is long overdue, so it is a perfect opportunity to spend some few hours with them.
My day started when I went to church for service and I was back home before noon. After spending some time in the kitchen to prepare lunch, we ate and had some few hours of rest. Afterwards I packed a small box filled with some clothes and other essentials enough for a night and we headed out later that evening. The trip started off with a little bit of concern as my husband was observing an issue with the movement of the car but we were able to manage it to our destination.
On getting home, the house was filled and buzzing with the voices of my parents and siblings who had also come home for the sallah holiday. There's something comforting about a change of environment especially when you are around people who know you deeply because you would have a lot to catch up with and the short period of time will be memorable.
Fast forward to this morning - which is the major topic of discussion on this post - I woke up to helping my mother carry out one of her daily activities which is taking care of her broiler chickens. She has been in the business of raising day old chicks to about six weeks old when they are ready for sale. She sell them to individuals who buy for personal consumption or to people who buy to resell to the final consumers. She repeats the process after she bas successfully sell off a set.
This set has about seventy three-weeks old broiler chickens and they are in two different cages. She always ensures that there is water and feed in their troughs throughout the day. Today, I joined her to feed them by scooping their feeds in the feeding troughs and placing it in the designated position in the cage. I also washed and filled up the water containers and placed them carefully in the water area. At first I was scared of the chickens using their beak to injure my hands because of the way they were rushing me as I was about to drop the feed but I was able to control the situation.
Broiler Chicken are a special breed of chicken that are reared for the purpose of meat only. They are known for their rapid growth (when they are well fed) and also the chunky fleshy meat.
I will be heading back to my base later in the evening as I prepare for work tomorrow. However, I'm grateful for the opportunity to have some family time with my parents, siblings, husband and the kids in the family. I'm also happy that I have been able to support and assist my mother in her business with the little I can do.
Thanks for reading and see you in my next one.
