Yesterday, we took a trip out to Kamakura, the old capital of Tokyo. It's a beautiful city about an hour away from where we're staying, and a mere stone's throw from the ocean. We stopped by Hase Temple and Kotokuin temple. This was definitely the most scenic place in the entire trip!

While we were walking around the town in between temples, we stopped in to a couple different gift shops. Didn't see too much that really caught my attention, but I did check out an antique shop. A very expensive antique shop. The kind that would be very painful to your pocketbook if you knocked something over kind of expensive. But the owner was very kind, especially when I started speaking Japanese.

Actually, that's been a very common thread all trip. Japanese people love seeing the pasty white gaijin speaking Japanese. Apparently my practice has been paying off, because they think I speak like a local! So that's neat...

On our way back, we stopped at this little restaurant that sold mitarashi dango. If you've never tried it, it's these rice flour dumplings dipped in a soy sauce glaze. They were inexpensive, delicious, and it was super fun talking with the staff!

Anyways, Kamakura is gorgeous and definitely worth the trip. If you make a visit to Tokyo, you definitely need to make Kamakura part of your itinerary.
