Old Gold....
Wow, it’s amazing what you stumble upon when going through old hard drives. I just rediscovered a series of photos from Whitby. It might not seem like much, but these were taken 12 years ago on my old Canon EOS 1100D with the basic kit lens. Funny thing is, when I first looked at one of the shots, I assumed it was taken with a much more expensive camera. Thinking back, that little 1100D really did a great job — I’ve always loved the colours it produced.
Walking to the old town of Whitby.
One thing these photos have really proven — at least to me — is that you don’t need the most high-end, expensive equipment to capture great images. It's easy to get caught up in chasing the latest gear, but sometimes, it’s more about how you see the world and work with what you have. The lighting and weather conditions certainly played in my favour that day, but it goes to show that with a bit of patience and the right moment, even a simple setup can produce something beautiful.
Here’s an alternative take on the first shot — and honestly, I’m still undecided on which version I prefer. I recently reprocessed the images using Lightroom and Luminar Neo, and looking back at my original edits from 12 years ago… well, let’s just say my taste in photo editing has definitely evolved! I’m not quite sure what I was aiming for back then, but the old versions really didn’t do the images any justice. I’m so glad I revisited them with a fresh perspective — it’s amazing how much your eye for colour and detail can change over time.
I know this one isn’t the strongest in terms of composition, but there’s just something about it that I really like. Maybe it’s the way the deep blue sky contrasts so nicely with the warm light hitting the abbey and the grass, or perhaps it’s just the overall atmosphere it captures. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but visually, it just works for me — sometimes a photo resonates for reasons you can’t fully explain.
Thank you ever so much for reading my blog, please feel free to follow me and keep up to date with my future adventures.
Thanks again....

I just caught on the photo, and I really like it. Do you know the meaning of these, they said that it will be hot on the next day, just a superstitious belief...but I believe it.
I think it goes something like - red sky at night, shepherds delight, red sky in morning shepherds warning.
Nice shots you made! Love the composition on the first and last picture! It could be paintings!
Such a beautiful place I believe.
