The former underground military base part 8 - Lightpainting on Hive

Hi there,

Here's a post about a recent trip I made near Paris with my usual partners in crime.

This is a location I visited a couple of times before. A place where you can feel history with an H. This is a former network of underground quarries exploited separately first but linked together in a second period. Then WW2 arrived and changed the whole map : allied forces decided to settle NATO military bases around Europe after the conflict and that's why this place was built under a forrest somewhere around the capital city.

For that session, we were all agree to focus on exploring the quarries on the way to the military base. As you can see, we visited cool locations and we made several stops when we found suitable spots for lightpainting.

I really like this double-deck room and I wanted to do pictures here for years. I climbed the ladder to place a couple of candles at the higher level and, after my first try, I put an orange flashlight at the lower floor to bring more orange to the scene.

During our journey, our steps leaded us to an area with cages so I took an hour to play with it. Here's a picture from this part :

Flavien wanted to photograph a couple of things in the bunker part so we spent a couple of hours in it, making several stops. Here you can see a nice stairset :

At the end of the trip, we visited the best underground room of all times!!! Unfortunately for you guys, I swore not to publish any visual content of this pure gem.

WHAT IS LIGHTPAINTING?

Lightpainting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.
