The former underground military base part 4 - Lightpainting on Hive

Hi there,

Here's a couple of pictures I made during a recent trip near Paris with my usual partners in crime.

It's a location I visited a couple of times before. It was closed during several years but urban exporators re-opened it recently.

This is a network of former underground limestone quarries exploited separately first, but linked together at the very last time of use when a whealthy owner bought them all. Then WW2 occured and changed everything : allied forces decided to settle NATO military bases around Europe after the conflict and that's why this place was built under a forest somewhere around the capital city.

For that session, we were all agree to focus on exploring the quarries on the way to the military base. As you can see, we visited cool locations and we made several stops when we found suitable spots for lightpainting.
I really like this double-deck room and I wanted to do pictures here for years. I climbed the ladder to place a couple of candles at the higher level and, after my first try, I put an orange flashlight at the lower floor to bring more orange to the scene.

When I was happy about the global lighting, I decided to add an abstract light-calligraphy in my typical style :

WHAT IS LIGHTPAINTING?

Lightpainting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.
