Pathway into darkness (part 2) - Lightpainting on Hive

Hi everyone,

My life finally took a positive turn during May as things became to change here. Efforts start to pay : injuries are healing slowly, money is on the way and depression has gone 😎

I was happy to visit again this location I scouted during April. After a very pleasant 1st session here, I wanted to take a different path in my creative process using that nice tunnel.

1st picture of the session was about playing with the tunnel and a diamond-shaped plexiglass tool :

Then, I decided to combine everything I wanted : abstract light-calligraphy, usage of diamond-shaped tool and lighting of the tunnel. I used my camera rotation tool for the 2nd and 3rd step :

WHAT IS LIGHTPAINTING?

Lightpainting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.

Your light painting talent emphasizes authenticity in the creative process. That makes the work feel raw and impressive, because it relies on skill, timing, and vision rather than post-production.

To be honest, I'm not comfortable with the concept of talent. As a self-taught lightpainter and photographer, it's all about work, work and work!

I've been doing lightpainting for 15 years and I'm still hooked on it. There's so much to explore in this art, I made only a tiny fraction of the ideas I have in mind for years!

It's only the beginning of my journey.

Thanks for your feedbacks, I appreciate them a lot.

That perspective is very empowering, especially in an art form like light painting, which thrives on experimentation and patience.

That's exactly why we are lesser and lesser to do lightpainting in the world now : people want instant result with minimum commitment. I have no padawans since the pandemic, because they always quit when they realize we'll have to train, watch, learn, make mistakes, do crap.

That's unavoidable. It's part of human nature to aim for instant results without putting much effort. Lucky you! You're one of the most talented and dedicated human beings on Earth. 😁

I don't think so. For me, it's just a matter of time due to extreme capitalism.
